Vanarama National League South
Hampton & Richmond Borough v Braintree Town
With Saturdays’ home game against Weymouth postponed, the Iron are back on the road for the fifth successive away fixture as they head to the Beveree Stadium to play Hampton & Richmond Borough.
The Beevers have new owners this year and have invested £2 million pound on upgrading their ground and installing a 3G pitch. This meant a delay to the start of their home fixtures which were all reversed, not playing their first home game on 5 September 2023.
The investment seems to be paying off as they currently sit second in the VNLS table, having finished in seventeenth last season. Their record so far is: P20 W11 D5 L5 GF 33 GA 26 Pts 38.
At home they have P 7 W 6 D 0 L 1 GF 20 GA10 Points 18
Only Yeovil have taken all the points when they defeated the Beevers two-one. Since that home defeat the next five home games have produced eighteen goals with three against Torquay, four against both Dartford and Worthing and five against Maidstone.
In the F A Cup they kicked off with a two-one away win at Southall, before going down three-nil to Lewes Town away. They are still in the F A Trophy having won five-one at Cray Valley Paper Mills setting them up with an away tie at Southend United next Saturday.
Last month they took George Nunn on loan from Derby County who made on loan appearance for us at Aveley earlier in the season.
Leading scorers for the Beevers this season are Mason Bloomfield and Ben Seymour both with 8 goals.
Our last visit to the Beveree was on 29 October 2022 and saw the Iron triumph three-nil with goals from Jon Benton, Levi Amantchi and an own goal from Dean Inman. Highlights here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KM-cb6lvliY&t=36s
A stern test now awaits the Iron as they face a Beevers side that are unbeaten in their last eleven games in all competitions, add to that another plastic pitch, the home side will be strong favourites to claim all three points.
We also know that the Iron are at their best when faced with a challenge.
