Signed shortly before kick off the Iron's latest recruit - 20 year-old midfielder George Quantrell - had a major impact in this latest pre-season friendly on Tuesday evening down on the Island scoring a spectacular debut goal and putting in an impressive 90 minutes of work with his new team mates.
Quantrell, signed from Leiston, showed some near individual skills, working hard and tackling back in defence when needed and he never wasted a pass all evening.
With Iron boss Angelo Harrop away on holiday his deputy Steve Pitts was also full of praise for the newcomer adding: "He has come in and immediately settled and worked really hard with some great inter-play from midfield - we are excited to have him on board and believe he has the potential to do really well at National League level."
As for the game itself Pitts went on: "It was a good, all round performance from all the players involved because we had pace throughout the side, looked solid at the back and always looked a danger when going forward.
"We showed determination throughout the side, created some excellent moves going forward and we were so clinical with out finishing," he continued. "I think we should have scored more goals but at least we created the chances and I know scorelines don't really matter in these game it was good to get such a comprehensive win and also not concede any goals."
The Iron had the best possible start by taking the lead on eight minutes from the penalty spot when the in-form Nnamdi Nwachuku kept up his scoring spree in these pre-season friendlies by netting the penalty having been brought down en route to goal.
The Iron, playing their best football so far in this pre-season campaign, saw several chances go begging but it was debut boy Quantrell who increased his side's lead on 33 minutes when from deep out on the right wing he crossed the ball high into the far top corner of the net to make it 2-0.
Whether the youngster meant it as a cross or shot is immaterial because it was simply a superb cross that beat the home side's tall keeper all ends up.
The best was to come though when a minute from half time a superb move up field involving slick passing saw Nwachuku sprint into the home area to slide home a low shot into the corner of the net from the final pass from the left wing - a real text book goals
Half time saw a few changes giving some triallists a run out but the Iron continued to sweep upfield with some excellent moves that left the home defenders reeling with both Alfie Payne, Quantrill and Chris Regis all going close to finding the net while Nwachuku looking for a hat-trick three times saw his shots narrowly miss the target.
On 72 minutes the Iron added a fourth when Payne was hauled down in the area and it was Regis who sent the resultant penalty high into the home net.
Overall an extremely impressive workout by the Iron which left Pitts satisfied and adding: "We have to continue with all this good work, effort and commitment as we know when the serious league business starts it will be much tougher but we're pleased with the progress so far."
Next up for the Iron is an away trip to Needham Market this Saturday, kick off 3pm
