This was emailed by Long Melford FC official Richard Kemp, he usually writes for Long Melford but as they played Boxing day instead of the 28th, he came to see us and offered to write a report for us, as we usually only have Paul & myself we don't have time to do this. Thanks to Richard for the following:
Thurlow Nunn Division 1 Braintree Town Reserves 0 Wivenhoe Town 6
The young Braintree Academy team were up against the goal hungry Dragons, who with this win further consolidated their top of the table position. Although Wivenhoe always looked in control the first period was more of contest with Flynn Tarman from a wide position always a threat for Braintree, whilst for Wivenhoe veteran striker and assistant Manager Ray Turner, was always prominent, and in Adam Hampson, the Dragons had pace and tenacity. The Dragons took the lead after only five minutes a clearance from Braintree keeper Keiron Colville eventually found midfielder JAMIE BAKER who lobbed the off line keeper from some thirty yards. After Jake Plane had his excellent shot pushed round the post by keeper Colville, both a good save and shot. Another corner for Wivenhoe on 28 minutes saw RAY TURNER delicately glance his header past the Braintree custodian. Although the goals went with Wivenhoe, Braintree played some neat wide football and both the impressive Harry Watkins and Flynn Tarman had good efforts blocked by the Braintree defence. As the game progressed to the second period Braintree seemed to tire and lose some concentration. Hungry for further goals, The Dragons went further ahead after 52 minutes, slack marking saw the ball arrive at the feet of REECE KEATING in open space, and he tucked the ball home from the angle. The appetite remained and The Dragons went further ahead on 77 minutes another defensive muddle allowed RAY TURNER freedom in the box and he crashed the ball into the net. The young Braintree team continued to play good football but lacked the finishing power, and Wivenhoe added further goals, on 87 minutes sub HASAN AYTEN scored direct from a corner, and as the clock struck ninety minutes JOE HERON rifled home from inside the box. BRAINTREE Keiron Colville, Isaac Amoah, Luke Hallett, Palvy Manduakila, Lewis Soraf, Will Young, Flynn Tarman, Jake Gyebi, Romario Dunne, Harry Watkins, Matt Baxter Subs Kofi Gyebi, Jack Tyrer, Jack Gilder attendance 77
