I see that Danny Cowley has welcomed the week long break from competitive games. Devs used to say the same, but results used to suggest that our best results came whenever games came thick and fast. New manager - new broom so lets hope the no game malaise has been rinsed from the squad. Lets make it three out of three. Match commentary is again by BBC Essex, click on this link and follow the prompts to the match audio which should come live 10 mins before kick off: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/33962130

It's good to win away in what was a far from strait forward game. The iron started off with a couple of attacks in the first five minutes before the wings hoofed the ball up to their front man whom caught Dalliston cold and Obefeni put into the net. The Iron battled back and Micheal Cheek who was playing some good football got to a cross from Sparkes and equalised by stroking the ball into the net from the 12 yard line. After that the wings pressured for most of the rest of the half targeting their big men up front. Norris was called on to make a couple of saves. The second half continued with Welling pressing and the Iron countering with a chance to Kenny Davis. We were coming more into the game but failing to convert particular on one attack when we had two clear shots of goal. Now for the master stroke when Dan Cowley pulled off Cheek and Davis and replaced them with Chiedoze and Edgar. Almost immediately Anthony Edgar put a through ball through to Dan Sparkes who beat their goalie one on one. The wings continued with their hoofing strategy but after the 47th time our defending knew how to deal with it. Dan Cowley said previously he wanted to see us learn how to play out the victories, we did that with panache.

Great result. Three in a row, and bring on Aldershot. But were was Akinola?

An entertaining game (though not for the faint hearted) where the score could have been much higher except for some stout defending by both sides. We started off well and could easily have been ahead twice in the opening 5mins before with their 1st attack a defensive mix up led to their goal against the run of play. In the past we have usually struggled to get anything out of a game once we have gone behind, but not this TEAM that Dan & Nicky have put together and we equalised within 10mins from a well worked goal which Michael Cheek finished with a shot from 12yards across their keeper and into the net. His overall performance was well appreciated by the many IRON fans and he was applauded off when he was substituted having run his heart out for the cause. Keep it up Michael and more goals will surely come.
With Simeon unavailable for the game (I believe he should be fit for Aldershot tomorrow) the midfield of Kenny, Alex and Miles Taylor worked tirelessly to create chances and with Dan Sparkes in inspired form we restricted Welling to a lot of hoofball up to their tall forwards which as mentioned in rustys post we coped with well.
That's now 3 wins in a row and lets hope the people of Braintree turn out tomorrow to hopefully see us get another and move further up the table.
