Mini report.
A night of frustration, not with our players, but the attitude of the opposition players, we had another physical night. Which surprized me I expected the Champions of the Premier Division to be a footballing side, we had one player with stud marks all up his leg, the incident was in the 15th minute a challenge which we gained a free kick fair enough, but as the "6" followed through from our angle he looked to deliberately stamp on our 16 year old players leg. I am not sure why men feel the need to do this to youngsters. I like many others at Hadliegh were furious, it didn't get much better. Anyway to the match itself.
First ten minutes we ran the home side ragged, attacks up the flank and efforts on goal made the home team sweat, Regan Pelling had our best effort on 6 minutes with a shot come cross which was inches from the goal line. I feel this is when the game changed, they could not contain us and decided that if they could not beat us on the park, they would use brute force. They took the lead totally against the run of play on 11 minutes David Lorimer scoring with the home sides first attack of the game.
After a lenghy injury explained above, we went 2.0 down Scott Chaplin getting this one (22) our players then defended well as Luke Banner pulled off five-six top saves that kept the score at 2.0. Hadliegh hit the post and our keeper got the rebound. Our best effort of the 2nd half came on 85 minutes and Regan Pelling shot just over the bar. A third goal was scored with 3 minutes to go Jorrell Hurd, which gave the home side a distorted score line.
I hope Reece Sayers & Matt Baxter recover from their injury's last night. We go out of the League Cup to last season's champions so no shame in that. Just wished the home side had of played football. Saying that Hadleigh United as a club were fantastic hosts and their hospitality was one of the best this season so far.
Anyway Gt Yarmouth Town at home Saturday.
