Another dominant display at home but just a point to show for it 82nd min pen saved onto post and dan heads rebound agonising wide 3pts behind gateshead results went against us yet again. With grimsby playing hyde they will have 76pts. Gateshead have two at home southport and camb last game camb will rest all 11 as already in play offs.hfax home to maccs away to southport and home to kiddie.

Going on the match commentary this sounded like a 'defenses on top' game. A goal would have changed things dramatically, now we have an uphill fight by needing to win all three. Grimsby have to visit us and they lost to in form Halifax this evening. So perhaps we can grab the 4th play-off spot from the fishies!
If we don't go up ourselves, then I'm supporting Gateshead through the play-offs. We don't need that trip to Tyneside, but we do need the visit from Cambridge!

Gutted by the result tonight. I don't know why Dan didn't just leather the penalty. having committed the keeper, why did he then shoot to the way the keeper had gone? Home form has cost us this last few weeks, but there is still hope.

Can't go Three games at home without a goal at this stage of the season and expect to get into the top Five. Too much long ball tonight played into the hands oh their two big centre halves, they will be delighted with the point needed a bit more guile around the box.

Facts tell the story, we had 18 shots they had 1. They came for a point and got it. James and Sparky seemed unable to get around the defenders to cross the ball on a regular basis. Their keeper was quality.

Such a shame to drop 2 pts at home. The home performances of late have been poor and despite having so many chances inc one on a plate when do not convert our opportunites like other teams do, I remember Southport at home 31 shots and only 1 goal for it. I felt sorry for Dan last night obviously had Kenny of played he would of taken it, I wonder if someone was in a better frame of mind last night to step up I did not think Dan had the best game, Maybe Sparky should of been pushed into taking it. We now have to rely on other results going our way so fingers crossed. Ok turnout last night but we needed something to shout out about. Gateshead looked well marshalled and in many ways similar to us solid defensivly and work hard in midfield and little end product up front so a draw not a surprise result. Team ratings: Nathan 6 Some dodgy back pass clearances Ryan 6 Not at his best last night Sam 7 Solid again Deano 7 Troubled little Alan 8 Won everything and showed some skill when attacking MOTM Chez 7 Ran his socks off and should off been subbed with 15 to go I feel Matt 7.5 Good game a few silly fouls committed James 7 In and out of the game Dan S 7 Looked a threat going forward and showed haw well he has developed this season Dan H 6 Poor game summed up by his stuttering Pen Jordan 6.5 Won a fair share of headers but again run out of puff and should of been subbed with 15 to go
No subs used which was a surprise considering the chances just kept coming an going Josh and Luke should of come on in my opionon So onto Dartford now on Fri and could be tough as they still fighting for survival. Happy easter everyone keep dreaming COYI

Jordan awarded MOM.....really?! Who makes these decisions? Clearly they weren't watching the game, Massey all day long for me.

Kinda get the feeling now come the end of the season it will be a case of ifs and buts, I knew it would be a closely fought match last night and I felt we really needed to win it to just blow the playoff race wide open. Still though we have already achieved our most successful season of all time so irrespective of what else may happen we can just enjoy the remaining few games n see where it takes us

Picking up on the points above. Out of the last 7 games we haven't scored on 5 occasions. Two 0-0 draws; 3 1-0 defeats. Think we need a 20-25 goals a season forward - which every team wants of course. Maybe Suarez on a short term loan deal!!! Ref Gateshead result I suppose it is a compliment to us that teams like Gateshead are coming to Braintree set up and going for a draw - still very frustrating though.

I too was a little disappointed that we didn't convert our chances, crowd were quiet at times considering the number in through the turnstiles. Home form is in the shade compared to Iron on the road. Have to say it was like deja vu with the game last night mirror image of the game at the International Stadium last month, just defended better for the last few minutes even with all the attacks they suddenly put in at the end. Still its been a great season and more history written into the books, after all we are just the country cousins to all these big time charlies. Need a bit of luck and improvement at home but I'm satisfied with the achievements this season. Well done to Alan and the lads for continued success at this level.

Agreed moorsey; it was the choice of the young girl's football team that were in attendance. They were sat near me and I don't know how much of the game they actually watched.

Find it hard to knock a manager who has taken us to such heights in the Conference Premier but just didn't get our tactics yesterday. The long ball up to Jordan, ok fair enough, but it just wasn't working and we couldn't get round the back of them from the flanks, so rather than change it we just kept going with the same long ball, same system and same personnel. Maybe someone to slip a pass through would of been more effective as the 2 centre backs just lapped everything up. We can play we showed that once yesterday & it pulled Gateshead apart. The 50/50 percentage football just never seemed like it was ever going to work.
We can talk about only one team coming to win, but they had no reason to change their game plan because it was working, ours wasn't.
That saying fantastic season, thanks Dev for that & we still have an outside chance.

If I had said to anybody before the Luton and Gatehead games we will get 4 points from those game's most people would have bitten my hand off. The season is not over yet it will go to the last game against Grimsby at Home. Just look at Man City and Everton results last night take nothing for granted. Grimsby have still to play Alfreton and Braintree away.

I agree totally Barry. I was only telling myself today (you start doing that in one's 60th year) that Grimsby could well be the side which cracks under the pressure and lets us into the play-offs. Hopefully Alfreton won't have packed their buckets and spades just yet and can take at least a point off the fishies tomorrow. We win our games incl Grimsby at home for the last match of the season and we're fifth at least.

I write all of that and you pick up on my grammatical errors, Thats Alec Hunter for you all those years ago. A grade D in english Lang and it shows !!! Sorry mate; it's just me and my fussy ways. What really annoys me is the tendency for people to use "kind of", "sort of" and "like" in general conversation when there is no need. You watch people being interviewed on tv and listen out for this. Funnily enough, none of these are used when written! Still enjoy your posts though.

I soooooo want to share the above two views but we are gonna have to really be on it all over the park just to win these last 3 games n that's without the likes of alfreton doing us favours. Here's hoping it could be a strait winner takes all match between us and Grimsby. How amazing would that be last game of season! Especially as Grimsby haven't exactly done great at the Amlin
