Barry, most of the town will remain blissfully unaware of whats going on until posters are put up around the town.

Hi jonw. Last season I organised posters all over the town and beyond. Unfortunately due to all the re-arranged matches because of the postponements I and my team were continually going back and forth updating them, and those kind enough to display them became less willing to do so as a result.
The same would of course have happened this season, and therefore I declined to arrange posters and to the best of my knowledge no one else came forward willing to take the job on.

Who are you target audience for posters? They seem a lot of effort for not much reward. The older and more dedicated already look on good sites like here, BBC & the Conference sites, newspapers & TV etc. Most youngsters use social media these days such as Facebook & Twitter etc. With Facebook they can see the Iron updates in their news feed along with all their other stuff instead of switching to sites like this. I think many who are even half interested are probably linked in some way. We have have just got to ensure as many people know what options there are & keep them informed and interested

But isn't the issue about attracting those who AREN'T aware of whats going on? Each Tuesday there will be people watching football in the pubs in town who have no idea that there is a game going on down the road. You can't check out something on social media that you are not looking for. Posters are a good way of drawing attention to matches. They may not be the complete answer to our gates, but I am convinced that they are something that need to be done. Also, how about announcing free admission to under 16's for the Dartford game to boost the gates. There are plenty of kids in town who don't have season tickets who could be tempted to do something on a Bank Holiday. Give them all a free programme too, so that they can see what the club is about.

I think jonw is 100% right because it will atract a lot of youngsters.and it will help to get a big crowd to cheer the team on:)

I await the big banner across Bank Street on matchday mornings like they have in Lincoln. That's the City of Lincoln supporting and advertising their Club in the most prominent way.

I can get the posters done easily enough - if we have someone to organise distribution.

With due respect I think Posters will only have a very limited effect.
A number of league clubs are now having one game a season where they let kids in free and invite adults to pay what they think a game is worth, Brentford and MK Dons have had some success with this with a lot of kids and parents turning up. it's a really good way for people who would not normally go to pop along and see a game and get hooked, needs advance warning to promote and backing from the local papers but it does seem to work.
Posters are good but there needs to be some incentive for people to come along and try the club out.

I think this game will be so important 3 points puts us in the mix again. I am interested to see team line up obviously mine would be: Nathan Ryan Deano Alan Sam
Midfield: Matt James Dan S Chez
Upfront Dan H Alex ( If still Available)
Subs to come on Kenny For Chez Luke for James and Jordan Holdsworth with 5 mins to go for Alex. I feel Ken may have more impact from bench, Dan Holman will be raring to go, Jordan cox being carried off on Sat poss injured Sean and Nick out and Josh loan spell over. 22 hours to go I cant wait COYI

I never know what constitutes a three match ban over a single match. I thought a ban emanating from a series of yellow cards = one match out same as two yellows in one match when neither was for dangerous play. Perhaps someone can attempt to straighten me out as I reckon Kenny should be back. At least we have experience in Nathan between the sticks and presumably Gateshead will have a few out themselves - it is that time of the season.
We should have got at least a point up on Tyneside, the Heed will be aware on that, so will show us respect. It's do or die time for our lads, that great result has put us back in the frame, but if we again follow a terrific result with another lack-lustre performance then I fear that that'll be that with regards play-offs.
Lets get behind the team again, I'll be up and following proceedings at 4.45am.

5 yellow cards= 1 match ban. 10 yellow cards = 2 match ban. Kenny Davis has 10 yellow cards.

Sadly cannot be there .....again And a great initiative it was too but the club needs to explore every possibility to get more through the gate, not just kids but disenfranchised fans from league clubs who are finding prices too high. Average gate has doubled in the last Three years but probably needs to again if BTFC are to progress, can't rely on the board and one or two sponsors forever.

More needs to be done and maybe some of those concerned for the board and sponsors can help get initiatives off the ground. Clubs at our level need volunteers more than they do suggestions from well wishers.

More needs to be done and maybe some of those concerned for the board and sponsors can help get initiatives off the ground. Clubs at our level need volunteers more than they do suggestions from well wishers. Well there's the dilemma in my humble opinion, you can only go so far on peoples goodwill and the help of volunteers. Let me say straight off that I think the club has been brilliantly steered by the chairman over the last five years with the help of the board and a few committed fans, but at what stage do the club take a leap of faith and perhaps look to employ a marketing professional to try and bring in extra income and raise the clubs profile. I firmly believe that there must be some sponsorships and backing from local and even national companies to be had which could boost the clubs coffers and help improve facilities further and strengthen Dev's playing budget, Braintree Town is a great story of what can be achieved on a small foundation and I'm sure people would buy into that given some prompting. I know it's a very fine line with finances but perhaps even looking to employ someone on a retainer with expenses and commission is a way forward. Like everyone else I want to see the club progress and I'm beginning to think that perhaps after Three years in the Conference it's time to throw off this "pub team in Essex" tag and move on. I'm sure the new ground when it comes will raise the clubs profile in the Town but more needs to be done in the meantime to rally the local community behind the club.

In reference to posters advertising the Iron around town, we have got a two-page poster going in tomorrow's Braintree and Witham Times that we're hoping will boost the team's final push for the play-offs. It's across the centre pages and we're hoping to see them displayed around town to try to drum up as much support as possible for the final games of the season.

Has anyone ever approached Tescos over some kind of sponsorship. The town has 3 Large stores and a one stop and a possible next site on coggeshall road. Also what about sponsoring or next game advertising on the roundabouts of the by pass ?? Just a thought, I agree with braintreeo s comments and ways for the club to move forward.
