Going by the BBC Essex match commentary this was a fair outcome. The quote of the match being " Welling are out-braintreeing Braintree with their game". So Charlie Strutton opened the scoring with the visitors then scoring three times with Jordan Cox firing a late consolation for the IRON. All good things come to an end and now Devs willneed to get the lads back on track for the match at Nuneaton.

Poor game, great finishes by Jordan & Charlie but very little else to shout about....
McDonald got his wall all wrong for their first... Sparkes was anonymous...again!?! Griffiths was given the runaround all night... Chez n Painey ran around like headless chickens... Missed Mulley when he went off as Enver-Marum was a waste of space on the left.... Wells n Massey both had poor games by their standard.
It's not the end of the world another 3 points to play for Saturday.......... Hopefully we can get a few back from injury !?!

Definitely a poor game compared to our recent standards which is a shame as we had a decent looking crowd tonight. Cox was a real nuisance to their defence n took his goal well but he lost possession too much. Think our main problem had to have been mulley not coming out for the second half (presuming due to injury) so all we had out wide was sparkes. All 4 centre forwards on for the last 20-25 mins was just too contested down the middle. Hopefully mulleys ok for sat n if kennys back then all can be rectified. Any one know when Daley will be fit again?

A dissapointing result yes, I feel a draw would of been a better reflection of the teams on show. I agree with some of Kieros comments, but lets take the positive that we can. Im sure Devs will say lets take this on the chin and move on. The wall for their first goal was shambolic noone took charge of where it was positioned or who should be in it. Liam was at fault no question for the second and to be fair looked lazy tonight. Heads dropped to easily after that. On the plus side, Great crowd breaking the 1000 barrier, Sam H deserved his MOTM award played well and focused. Jordan and Charlie performed well and deserved their goals. Showed that when you throw 4 stikers on that eventually pressure will tell and goals will come. Oh well onto saturday and lets bounce back with another away victory. Come on you Iron

Firstly congratulations to Welling. They were a fit and lively outfit I was impressed by their full back No2 who pumped some accurate balls up front and went forward too. The absence of Kenny Davis showed tonight as we needed his engine to keep us going Chez Isaacs fulfilled that role in the first half but was anonymous in the second. After Mulley was substituted every ball seemed to go through the middle which was meat and drink to the Welling defence. After going three one down the Iron did put a bit of steel into the game with a good second and a chance near the end. Charlie Strutton played well again and so did Jordan Cox whom I think has further potential as long as he gets the support of the manager and his team mates.

For me it's obvious Dev's is trying to get the wide men one way, and the don't understand, by playing Sparkes right and Mulley left he's looking for them to cut inside onto there stronger side and get shots off, but they both persisted trying to go down the outside on there weaker foot then turn back to try and get a cross over! Have to say they set up brilliantly player manager Jamie Day sat between the 2 centre halfs all night long and picked up every loose ball that came from us pumping long balls up towards cox who's too inexperienced at this level and his flicks when he did win them didn't drop to an iron player. Enver-Marum didn't want it was lazy at fault for there second and didn't seem to offer anything, would have preferred to see carney or Holman on the left when Mulley got injured

So disappointing tonight. First 25 minutes were ok, but the minute they equalised, it all went down hill. Not sure what happened with the equaliser? It seemed like the man on the end of the wall, Sparkes I think, was facing Nathan, and lining up the wall forever, and the GK even made the wall move further left just before the kick was taken. I couldn't see from my angle whether the ball went round the wall, hence a GK error, or through the wall, which means an error by the wall! Either way, it seemed to turn the game, and we began playing even more long ball than usual. If we string 2-3 passes together, it seemed to just go backwards ready for the long ball to Jordan's head. Mulley was a huge miss in the second half, and Liam was embarrassing in his lack of desire. The full back, who is half his size, won every ball, and anticipated everything quicker than him. This is where the blame for the second goal clearly lies. In the second half, our midfield was only on the pitch to try and break up their play, as when we had the ball, we missed them out completely by hitting long ball after long ball. Perhaps the most disturbing game I have seen for a while. I trust in Dev's to turn it back around, as he always does. Come on lads, let's find a victory on Saturday at Nuneaton.

When we start lumping the ball up I know we're struggling. Why can't we build from the back and why doesn't Nathan roll the ball out to defenders in space more? One lost game after six or seven starts is not to be sneezed at COYI.

Have to agree with most comments here. LE-M too lazy and cost us their second as he just stood and waited for the ball. Midfield battled hard with little outlet, no one was getting wide and the full backs seemed reluctant to offer that option. Cox did quite well and some of his flick-ons did fall to Strutton. The latter took his goal well but had missed a good chance earlier. Thought the ref was lenient with their 2 forwards with both being spoken to on numerous occasions. At the moment the play-offs look like a free for all for most of the league with different clubs moving in and out of the zone.

Come ‘on let’s be realistic, Dev & the lads are doing us proud. If you look at our starting line up at the start of the season, we had five players out due to injuries. The lads coming in have played their part and nearly grabbed an equaliser at the end. Let’s remain positive…
