I guess it's a bit early to be thinking about Christmas and the presents we may receive but I have a little poser......
I was talking with a few of the lads and we were wondering if the club may reduce ticket prices over the festive period? We have a block of four games within nine days that I'm sure most Iron fans will want to get to - Bishops Stortford home and away, Chelmsford away, Ebbsfleet home (we also play Basingstoke at home the week before the first Stortford game). I fear a lot of us might not be able to afford all four. I know we can't do anything about prices at away grounds but what about the home games? Even if we just reduce them to last years prices......

I'd drop the prices for home games around christmas and new year too, buying presents isnt cheap and I'm not sure I could afford to get too 2 home games in quick succesion around the christmas period as much as I'd like too.

Not sure the club can do much about the away games, but maybe a multi-buy offer for the Basingstoke, Stortford and Ebbsfleet games would be a good plan?

How about a 'free' home match ticket to any supporter who makes the effort to travel to see the Chelmsford or Bishops Stortford match over the Xmas/New Year?

Ticket prices are not written in stone (that's only the 10 commandments!), so the club can vary them if they want. However, when preparing a budget at the start of the season, I expect the club was banking on the usual high crowds for our dear friends, the Aeroplane glue sniffers, and reducing ticket prices could mean much needed cash being reduced. A nice gesture would be to give a ticket price reduction for anyone who is unemployed or on benefits. As an OAP, I get a reduced price anyway and a further reduction would not be appropriate. It is a difficult issue really and because money is tight, I am choosing to come to Iron matches rather than travelling up to London to see my beloved Orient.

Becks you say a free match to those who make the effort to travel to Chelmsford or stortford. That's not much of an effort traveling to those places. I'm working chelmo match but I am making the effort to travel to Dorchester.

I don't see how the club can give free tickets to anyone travelling to away games, it doesn't make financial sense and Jimbo has a great point about budgeting for bigger crowds over Christmas. I'd suggest that maybe those who come to the home games over Christmas maybe get a reduction on entry for a game in January - just as the credit card bills are starting to hit!

Last thing I would want to do is to cut the gate at Cressing Road but Jimbo anytime you want a lift up to Brisbane Road to watch the O's let me know.
I'm at the O's for every home game (33rd year as a season ticket holder) and then at Braintee whenever I can otherwise.

I agree with dav's earlier post that perhaps a discount could be applied if you turned up to the Basingstoke, Bishops Stortford and Ebbsfleet home matches. Lets say £30 all in saving £6. I know that's not a lot but my mum could probably get 6 pairs of undercrackers and a dozen pairs of socks for that (the token xmas presents I seem to get every year!).
Jimbo does make a valid point about the club budgeting extra for the local derby games. I disagree with his comments about reduced rates for just the unemployed or those on benefits. Just because I do a hard weeks graft doesn't mean I can easily afford to pay £12 a game. Add the traveling cost as I now live in Sudbury it becomes an expensive day to watch non-league football. I feel thats easier to say when you only pay £7 to get in.

I say get a season ticket at start of season. Well worth the money. 22 matches for price of 17 and then don't have to worry bout checking the pocket for Xmas matches.

A very good shout securityrob. I did contemplate a season ticket but due to the change of management I thought I'd wait to see how preseason went (didn't really want to spend £200 to watch dire football). By this time season tickets had risen in price. Bit of a bummer considering the start Rod and the boys have made!

Dont agree with jimbo post saying that unemployed/people on benefits should have reduced pricing, that leaves those of us who do work paying full-price still although we may not be able to afford it.
Fair enough to people who dont work for a reason but then some people who dont work through choice and laziness could show up for the first time at Cressing Road, and pay nothing.
I think maybe just knocking the prices down to last-season's for the games over the festive period is a good gesture by the club. It shouldnt affect the budget too much (if at all) and would be a great way to repay the fans for coming out and supporting them.

While obviously I'm unable to get on the end of any Christmas cheer, I reckon that promos are always a good idea. Sure matches are budgeted for but it often pays off to offer a tiddler in order to entice a whopper.

Thanks very much for offer, Braintreeo and I may take you up on it some time, but not at the moment; Braintree and Orient home games seem to be on the same Saturdays so far, but when that changes, I will probably be going up to Brisbane Road on alternate Saturdays.

we all knew how much it was going to cost in july boys and girls and the thought of saving money appeals to all but c'mon the club needs the money, the boys need our support and as its xmas maybe give the away games a miss and give what ever money you could spare to braintree town instead of our oppo's! ?........just a thought...

if people are scratching around for xmas presents, surely the club could do a 'festive bundle' of tickets for the 3 festive games mentioned. make it £30 for the 3 games and make them available in plenty of time for xmas and the club would surely be onto a winner both in terms of some up front cash and possibly getting people into the ground that might not normally come.
