A fantastic result and a fantastic performance ;D.
Again everyone played really well and another 2 goals for Sean which means he has now got 6 goals in 5 games, which is brilliant.
Nathan was again superb today and he made some terrific saves, especially the one from the corner when it was still 1-0.
Well done Braintree. ;D

Congratulations to Rod the Manager. He clearly had thought very carefully about what team was best for the day and it was a bit of a shock to see no Greeny or Sam. I have never seen Marksy or Guy win so many balls in the air and our mid-field covered a lot of ground and basically out-fought their midfield. Chelmsford could not complain too much (although no doubt they will !!); in the second half we fell away in the same way as previous home games, but when Chelmsford did have their chances, they did not take them. Mr. MacDonald could end up as player of the season; his calm confidence is great for the defenders and he does not make any fuss about his good saves (i.e. no unnecessary spectacular twists or turns in the air).
For the third time now I can say that this was a great team performance and a credit to our manager. I do hope anyone who expressed pre-season worries about him are now apologising - he promised atacking football and that is what we are getting. Great days for the club, but hopefully we steer clear of injuries.
At the end of the game, someone who appeared to be their manager and one of their players seemed to be giving the referee a right old earful, which the young ref took without telling them to go away - not sure if any one knows what they were complaining about - surely they were well beaten.

Chelmsford were poor as simple as that - as stated the mdfield 3 of Braintree out fought them with with Symons and Davis very good. A good performance although the first 20 mins or so of the second half could have been better

Another master class from the Iron! We ran the show from start to finish. McDonald superb in everything he had to do. Marksy as potent as ever. Guy battering his way through the Chelmo defenders (who were bricking themselves when he went anywhere near them!). Defence superb, midfield superb, attackers superb. Chelmo woeful and will be mid table come april/may next year. Shame about Bradders coming off at half time with what looked like a hammy. Hopefully nothing to serious. 12 of your british pounds well spent! Great work lads......STRINGERS IRON ARMY!!

What a team, and I emphasise team Rod is developing. Everyone has to give 100% just to be in the squad and it is paying dividends. There was only one team today that was hungry for the result and that wasn,t Chelmsford. Someone on the Chelmsford Soapbox posted earlier a thread stating "Time to admit we are not very good" and todays game just about summed that up. Apart from a brief spell early in the 2nd half we were in complete control and it would be foolish to nominate a MOTM as all the side played well. Rod and his management team must take nothing for granted in this league, many difficult games to come, but it is going to take a strong team to beat us. Come on you Iron!!!

Ahhh all's right with the world!
Leyton Orient 3 Exeter City 0, Including a beauty from Alex who is fast becoming a fan's favourite.
Braintree Town 3 Chelmsford City 0, Heard Glenn Pennyfather on the radio on the way home from the O's saying the ball just didn't run for them and Braintree were very "direct". (whinge)
Pakistan skittled for 74 at Lords.
How good does one afternoon get? It now only needs a knock on the door from Kelly Brook and I would say just about perfect.

Let's not take anything away from today, it was a very professional performance and victory. Rod and Keith had obviously done their homework and put out a side to disrupt our opponents and then impose our game plan on the match. City had a few bright spells, but we dominated for lengthy periods. The fact that Glenn chose to put out exactly the same side and formation as Welling on Tuesday evening made it even easier for our bench. I hear that Glenn and some of his players let themselves down after the game with their comments to the referee. It was a comfortable 3-0 against dispirited opposition - there was no need lads! Disappointed with the support from Chelmsford. They made a bit of noise first half but were strangely muted after the break and most of them walked out before the end. A good crowd at Cressing Road today and, if the lads continue to play like that, more will be tempted. Keep up the good work Messers Stringer & Rowlands!

Was fortunate to have a chat with Rod before the game and he explained his thinking in changing a winning team. Yes we were more direct today as a result of swapping the wingers, but dare I say it that was all part of the plan. From what I saw Chelmsford didn't look the biggest of sides and their were a few in claret shirts who looked like they didn't want it today. Put in two physical forwards like Marksy and Guy, leave Bryant to feed on the knock downs. Let Kenny and BQ (and Bruno) harry and chase their midfield and Simmo to mop up in front of the back four. Then Starkey, Jonesy, Paine and ABD to be solid, win headers and try hit the diagonal balls that let our forwards bully their fullbacks. Then when they are tiring bring on Sammy and Green for the killer blow. Oh yes and today's commentary was completely unbiased - of course

And are prepared to make difficult decisions. Easiest thing in the world would have to have played the same way as the first four games, after all it brought great results, but they went for the, some would suggest, risky option of changing a winning team and it worked a treat.
Not only to we have a plan a) we also have a plan b) and probably more importantly the players to deliver it!!

Sad to hear Glenn moaning about us being a direct side. Yes we were direct, three times if I recall properly. Still don't know what all the fuss was about afterwards, they were a well beaten side.

Give me a winning team playing direct football anyday.
Love the fact that their fans will go away thinking thats how we play, because those who have watched the first four games no very differently! Rod and Keith did their research and turned out a team to exploit Chelmsford's weaknesses, my guess would be that Glenn's moaning was nothing more than bluster to try and paper over the fact that he didn't do the same!!

Chelmsford were shocking, no fight, no passion, no desire.
We battled for every ball and dominated the midfield, Chelmsford had a good little spell at the start of the second half with Nathan making a couple of good saves.
We really deserved the win, Marksy in good goal scoring form. Ddidnt think Jamie Guy had a great game but what he lacked in goals today, he certainly made up for in effort by chasing round the pitch charging down balls and getting stuck in.
Chelmsford's right-back (Cook?) had a shocker, got forward too many times without chasing back, got himself caught out of position on various occasions. If I remember correctly he scored against us at Cressing Road last season as a winger, looked far better there.

Rod & his men are simply great, I'm simply over the moon. Even so early on, Rod is the best manager we have had for a long time. His new tactics today worked a treat & the lads did us all proud.

I think that the reason why we and quite a few teams at all levels show a bit poorly at the start of the second half is the fact that the opposing side will be debrief at the break and try to counter our game play, the difference this season is we soon cotton on to the fact and unlike previous seasons get on top of the situation either by substitution or RS or KR giving positive and constructive advice from the dug-out. This is, I think is why we go on and bang a couple of more goals in. In previous seasons we haven't for what ever reason made the change or adapted quickly generally been score against and in some cases beaten.
Isn't just great to watch good football at Cressing Road or indeed on the road. Come on the Iron.
Well done to Rod and the whole team.
The Andy Green legacy: the ball pitched off his infamous divit for the second goal!!

First chance to comment on Saturday's game and I just want to say that it was a fully deserved win for Braintree and we deserved nothing. You out fought and out hussled us and got 3 very well earned points.

Finally found a sensible Chelmsford fan, quite a few seem to be ignoring the result and focusing on who's the bigger club and who has more fans on your soapbox.
Lot of respect for you for openly admitting we outplayed you
