Braintree Town are closing in on signing at least one new striker, ahead of the new Blue Square South season.
But manager Rod Stringer has warned his transfer targets he will not wait around forever in his attempts to strengthen his forward line.
Attacking players Martin Tuohy and Louis Riddle are two of five players released by boss Stringer, as he trims his squad.
And with new signing Jamie Guy ruled out for the start of the new campaign, Iron are looking to boost their options.
Stringer is currently closing in on two potential targets. One plays in the Football League, having initially made his way up from Ryman League football, while the other is attached to another Blue Square South club.
The Braintree boss wants an answer on both fronts by the end of this week.
Meanwhile, Iron continued their pre-season preparations with a 2-1 win at St Neots Town last night, with Mike Power and Sean Marks scoring their goals.

I wonder where we would have been in the league last year without Purcell's goal-scoring efforts. I am convinced that we need a goal-scorer of a similar quality for this season; with such a replacement, we will be in the play-offs and without such a player, we will be mid-table. So it is dead easy, Rod, just go out and find another George Purcell; there must be tons of them out there, although I would not bother trying at the Job Centre!
