Admin has closed the "Lowestoft" thread but just before he did so asked me "I wonder, is that soapbox forum a facility run by the board of Directors at CCFC?"
To answer him I've had to start a new thread, of course.
The soapbox forum is not a facility run by the board of directors at CCFC but I would be fairly confident that the soapbox administrators would not be unsympathetic in the event that the board of CCFC asked the soapbox administrators to accommodate them in some fashion in regards to the soapbox....
I suspect that the situation at Braintree is not dissimilar to that at CCFC. i.e. neither soapbox is "run" by their respective boards but both sets of administrators would, I suspect, be prepared to listen to suggestions from their respective boards in relation to forum content....
Having said that, my appeal to the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Braintree Town to step in and "save me" was of course a joke.... Indeed, I followed up my "appeal" with texts to the two gentlemen concerned encapsulated in suitable jocular terms. "Rescue me Lee" I pleaded....
I note that you feel my postings to be "tedious" Admin. I wonder whether that is a viewed shared by "the Braintree Forum member in the street," as it were, given the number of responses my postings have tended to generate....

Hi Peter. This forum, although linked to the official club site, is independent and I think it's great to see all comers. I think it would be a shame to withdraw access to anyone, unless they become offensive or breach any of the forum rules.
I do sympathise with those who find pedantry boring and Peter you can go on at times to the nth degree but, if your comments add to a particular thread, I see no problem with that. Personally, if I find someone tedious, I just ignore them.

Let’s turn is round slightly as ask if anyone likes Peter's comments on here?
Not me - I suspect there is a reasonably intelligent person underneath & I also suspect that he has too much time on his hands & has sadly ended up enjoyed getting people wound up. I suggest when he makes sensible or interesting comments we should respond along the same lines. Otherwise ignore him.

The thing is he likes winding people up. The odd winding up coment is fine as we all are good at that but 99% of them is a bit far. As for having to much time on his hands is 100% right. PF soapbox messages is 19831 which works out at 210 month. I've just managed 210 since nov 08. Just a bit of useless information.

In defence of Peter Foster (whom I add I do not know personally) his meanderings are harmless unlike some of the drivel and language seen on the BSS forum. Perhaps the BSS Forum needs to take Admins line and be more circumspect on its postings.

I previously stated I wanted him banned, may have been a bit strong on my part.
I think it is fine with him posting here aslong as it's constructive rather than just trying to cause petty arguments and to correct people (although alot of the time it can be opinions).
Yes, some of his posting is boring, pointless, tedious and annoying but in SOME posts (its very rare) he can add something positive to a discussion and make some valid points. For that banning him may be a bit hasty and harsh but I do feel he'll have to change his posting style or he wont have too long left before it does happen.

Hi Peter. This forum, although linked to the official club site, is independent and I think it's great to see all comers. I do sympathise with those who find pedantry boring and Peter you can go on at times to the nth degree but, if your comments add to a particular thread, I see no problem with that. Personally, if I find someone tedious, I just ignore them. We agree that both the City and Braintree messageboards are run independently of the clubs. My point is that notwithstanding this independent status, shirley both sets of messageboard administrators would not be averse to accommodating their respective boards wishes should they receive representations from them relating to messageboard content. I've long been an admirer of your posting style, Lee. You are very focused and ensure that your ethereal adversaries are not allowed to wriggle off the hook by posting unfocused, vague or irrelevant material. Well, that's my policy too! The problem is that it sometimes takes a little time to ensure that one's forum adversaries "are "kept honest" as it were and there is always the danger that some posters misconstrue this as pedantry.... Indeed, I have found that quite a few posters confuse "pedantry" with "accuracy...." I don't believe that you have ever ignored one of postings in the manner you describe, Lee.... PS I note your vice chairman is moving house today although I wouldn't necessarily read anything into the fact that he is moving further away from Braintree and nearer to Chelmsford....

Peterfoster - It is very, very simple - you are a bore. The problem with bores is that they go on and on thinking to themselves how wonderful witty and interesting they are; they are too wrapped up in their own ego to realise how boring they actually are. If you think you are doing us all a wonderful favour by treating us to your "brilliant" insights, then I have got news for you - if you did not post a single item for the whole of this season, we would not miss you one bit.

"I AM AMAZED THAT A PROFESSIONAL SCRIBE LIKE YOURSELF PROFESSES TO BE WOULD KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWIXT SURELY AND SHIRLEY. " - Honest John
I suspect he was being ironic (as opposed to Iron-ic, which he clearly isn't). Let him have his say. He does indeed go on a bit, but he can be witty, as in his riposte to CM7 calling him 'foster'. He's also fairly calm in refusing to rise too far to Strangelybrown's baiting.
And at least he has the courage to use his own name (I assume). Which is more than can be said for most people on here.
I am an exception to that, of course. Onthet Errace is quite a common name in my native Scandinavia.

WHY IS HE ON THIS FORUM SO REGULARLY WHEN IT IS NOT HIS CLUB. HOW MANY VISITS DID HE MAKE TO CRESSING ROAD LAST SEASON.? IT IS GOOD TO INTER MINGLE WITH SUPPORTERS OF OTHER CLUBS WHICH CAN BE BOTH INFORMATIVE AND ENTERTAINING BUT SURELY HIS COMMENTS ARE OF LITTLE VALUE TO SUPPORTERS OF BRAINTREE.

I AM AMAZED THAT A PROFESSIONAL SCRIBE LIKE YOURSELF PROFESSES TO BE WOULD KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWIXT SURELY AND SHIRLEY. It's a joke, honestjohn.... On messageboards, I, and others on the City forum, have got into the habit using the word "shirley" instead of "surely...." I believe the joke was first used in the 1980 film "Airplane." Rumack: Can you fly this plane, and land it? Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious. Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.

I think the time has come to have a poll on whether peterfoster should be given an enforced 7 day exclusion from posting. In the morning I'll set up the vote. He's not actually breached any rules, but!

Surely if everyone dislikes peter no one would respond to his 'pointless' postings therefore making the threads just his own ramblings. I don't know where the poll is going to help. If we ban him for a week/month won't he just come back with avengence?! If your going to ban him do it for life or not at all i'd say. And before you say it peter I know I have responded to your thread but I'm talking to my Braintree friends.

Peterfoster - I repeat that you are one of those boring blokes who loves an argument about anything so you get the chance to demonstrate how wonderfully witty and erudite you think you are. At a party, we could just walk away from you, but the forum we can't get away from you (although a lot of peopleappear to think you are a waste of our space and want to ban you).
I would not be proud of the fact that your deliberately provocative comments get a reaction; if you check through the replies to your comments, you will no doubt find that the vast, vast majority of them are negative reactions; hardly anyone has a good word to say about you.
Please go away because no one at Braintree wants you spoiling our genuine free exchange of views about our team. If the administrator cares to conduct a democratic vote on whether you should be banned, I personally would be in little doubt what the overwhelming result would be.

And forums thrive on provocation and argument! Just look at the volume of responses to my postings in recent days! Some people state that they are bored but actions speak louder than words, shirley....

I'm not concerned if what you say is true that "no one has a good word to say about me," jimbo.... I've never courted popularity. This is a forum and fora thrive on argument and contraversy.... Have you not heard of "banter...." Your esteemed Chairman and Vice Chairman often visit our forum to indulge in it....

I will now totally ignore you and I sincerely hope that everyone else who has responded to your postings will do so too.
