Got to say I am looking forward to our trip to Scraley Road. It seems ages since I have been there. I always enjoyed our tense encounters. I think when I first started to watch the Iron, the Swifts were in a higher league than us. How times change.
I hope after three games Rod is getting a feel for who will be in his squad. Lowestoft shewed (a bit of Suffolk there) that a side that have played together for some time & have been winning can give lots of sides a run for their money.

Yep, strange how clubs go in different directions.
I remember the Swifts pushing us all the way in our title-winning year.
We've moved up to the Conference and now the Swifts find themselves having to look forward to matches home and away with Witham over Christmas and the New Year.
Does anyone know if they still need floodlights at their current level?

I don't know about floodlights, but I think (correct me if i'm wrong) they're now three leagues above our supporters team

If the whole floodlights thing is serious (I doubt it) then yes they do.
They have a decent set-up over Heybridge from what I've heard, well run club. Get a few players from Colchester on loan over the season too.
If I remember correctly their manager (Wayne Bond) was linked with our managerial post before Rod got it.

Great news about their floodlights, I was a bit worried when they asked to have the kick-off brought forward to 7.30, what with the nights starting to draw in. I had visions of me having to carefully position my car and the referee relying on my xenon's on full beam, plus the front fogs!
From what I remember it probably is a reasonable set up for their level, but I doubt if they'll ever be back up in the Ryman Premier. It always seems a bit windswept. That long walk from the dressing rooms to the pitch cant be acceptable with no cover over the walkway. Still, they do have Witham to look forward to over Christmas & New Year.
Don't remember Wayne Bond being mentioned by anyone - I don't think he'd be in the frame if the Supporters team had a vacancy (not that I've heard anything ...). No offence intended, mind.

You have to have floodlights at Essex Senior level too, they look at bit random placed on a field!
To be fair Bond's a decent manager. Very small budget over Heybridge, does well with what he has to work with.
And they arent in the same division as Witham!

No! Really? So they're in the Olympian? or Border League?
God! How far down does senior football go these days ...

What in having idiotic directors that try picking fights with away supporters!!!

Money man? No money at Braintree, just a club that pays its bills and players on time. Other local clubs should try it Peter.
I expect that's why we at Braintree don't have to endure 'dog-eating' Korean trialists.
Woof Woof!

Yes. So Barry and Lee keep telling us and telling us and telling us....
Good advice it is as well. Those that don't listen end up having to cut their summer money, then the playing budget and then they get a home visit from 'friends' of a former 'director of football'.
Thank God that doesn't affect our two clubs, eh Peter? Woof Woof!

You clearly have a very vivid imagination, strangelybrown....
And rather than being a Braintree fan, your performance in this string at least suggest that you are a barking supporter....

Hi Steve, Admission on Tuesday night is £8 Adults & £4 Concessions.
As a former Quagender of 15 years I look forward to the visit of my home town club to Heybridge where you will all be made more than welcome. Hopefully we will have some Maldon Gold real ale on tap for you to sample.
I am sure former Swifts, Sean Marks, and Olly Olly Olly (Morris-Sanders) will enjoy a warm welcome, however its a shame that George Purcell is no longer with you as he became a bit of a legend during his short time with the Swifts back in 2007.
Would be good to see a few of the lads there tomorrow night, Mad Dog, Jonny Weaver, Mr. Smuff, Pittsy, Martin Green, Tommy Marshall etc.

strangelybrown has a very confused idea of Heybridge and it's history. He must have enjoyed joining BTFC after you had reached Conf S. Sean Marks, Ollie M-S and young Reece Harris will all receive a top welcome at Scraley Rd.

Indeed Steve and credit to Heybridge on a superb playing surface. Our lads played well last night and Rod & Keith are working very hard to pull things together. I'm impressed with their efforts and our progress.

I really enjoyed the game IW. Its amazing that we did not score more goals than we did. Yes, it was only Heybridge, some will say, but we are going in the right direction.
