Braintrees most consistant defender, Not impossible your entire back four next season will be ex Braintree players. I think everyone was hoping he would resign but I guess he's chasing the £'s like Goodacre and Champion, Good luck to him very consistant and commited player.
I see you have also signed Charlie Sherringham Cody, you seem to be splashing the cash who's bank rolling these signings? you are assembling quite a good squad and should do wel next season.

Cody you got some good signings so far. Sad to see Bruce go aswell but that life. For dartfords sake I hope your spending within your limits and not going to blow it all on 1 season.

We actually have a strict wage budget , but it helps when you pull in 1300+ fans most weeks . I have just had my season ticket through and mine was well into the 200's .I would expect that that number will double by the start of the season
We have a number of money making schemes which helps bring in money in the close season including. A 9 hole golf course which is open all year round and is always in use and the full size 3G training pitch which is being hired out more often than not.
Our board would never risk the club financially by over stretching the wages

"Our board would never risk the club financially by over stretching the wages" Sorry to knock the 'love in' but, if that's the case, could I ask why Dartford FC had to sell its ground and fold in 1992?

May have been a different set of board members?
Sad to see Joe leave but I did have a feeling he may have moved on after we signed a number of defenders. Dartfords back 4 of; Burgess, Goodacre, Champion and Bruce will be a good one and with Shinn and Burns over there too, the return to Cressing Road will be full of applause from our fans.

Dartford never lost the ground , it was taken away from us due to the debts of Maidstone United (who were in the football league at the time) who shared the ground with us . Its a long story , one which Dartford fans are very bitter towards Maidstone for . I certainly hope you guys never have to go through that but I think what they did would be illegal these days

Cody that is a very selective use of the facts to make your arguement - have you ever been employed by Chelmsford City by any chance?

"Our board would never risk the club financially by over stretching the wages" Sorry to knock the 'love in' but, if that's the case, could I ask why Dartford FC had to sell its ground and fold in 1992? In a nutshell: Maidstone sold their ground, without a new ground to go to. They moved in with Dartford, who were happy to collect their rent. Stones used the millions from the ground sale to buy up a load of top talent. Maidstone won the conference, and promotion to div 4. Darts ground not up to league standards, so stones had to fork out shed loads to bring up to spec. including lashings of amber paint, which as you can imagine went down well with the locals. Within 2 yrs, crowds dropped below 1000, stones on the brink of going bust. Before stones go bust, stones chairman buys a up a majority share holding of DFc shares. Stones go bust, and curiously the debt of the ground improvements are transferred to DFC. DFC board resigns, stones chairman sells watling st,at a low price for a quick sale to housing development company. to pay debts. Stones chairman then also buggers off,and kent has lost its two of its top clubs. DFC supporters association takes over the running of the club, which starts again in Kent league in 1993. Ground shares are arranged allover north kent and south essex, for 13 yrs, before the club comes home to the new princes park in 2006. The board still contains 4/5 of the original DFCSA. They seem to be doing summat right! Strangleybrown: Nice name BTW

So your board were picking up the dolla from the Stones to keep themselves afloat. Then your board let their tenants repaint their own ground in their tenants colours and then your board sold their soul (the shares in their own club) to their tenant so that their tenant could pay off its debts.
In an effort to create a Braintree analogy, that would be like us letting Chelmo ground share at Cressing Road, then letting them paint everything plum and then sell shares in BTFC to Chelmo at a give-away price to help Chelmo sell our ground to clear their debts!
Dartford must have had some great people on their board in the early 90's, eh?

I would let it go, strangelybrown. What happened in the past has nothing to do with the present Dartford board or players. Maybe you are a bit niggled that they are forming a new club "Dartford formerly known as Braintree" by getting in most of our best players in the last season or two?
It is interesting that Aveley do not seem to be moaning about us poaching over half of their first team, as well as their manager.
It will be very interesting to see how Dartford formerly known as Braintree do this season compared with Braintree formerly known as Aveley.

Indeed Jimbo - good luck to them, but the past is our definition. We may strive, with good reason, to escape it, or to escape what is bad in it, but we will escape it only by adding something better to it.
