Really enjoyed it, so did the players....they the players all got paid in full.and Braintree as a club broke even don't owe a penny, The 2 centre halfs have already been replaced at half the price....Good business something you don't have a Knowledge of. So far I am advised we have around 25 players already wanting to play for us.... George Purcell should have other 20 goal forwards to link up with..........Oh dear have we not rubbed your face in it yet.....well take this as the first of the new season..........I am glad you are more worried about us than your own club as it must take your mind off your own problems..................Have a nice day, we at Braintree can sleep at night how about you.
Posted by 'baswaldsmates' on the conf south forum. So 'baswaldsmate' do you post on here, if you so who are you? And what do you know that we dont?

All the genuine supporters know exactly who Baswaldsmate is. When discussing the past, present and future of our club and sometimes slagging off the people at the top, we sometimes forget how lucky we are to have directors who are willing to stand with the fans, travel to away matches, buy us drinks and have a chat in a friendly and constructive way. Money is not everything and having a board who do everything they can for the club within their power and within their own financial limits should make us bloody grateful.

Right, 'strangelybrown' I am 'one of us' having attended most of the home games last season and a few here and there over the past 5 or 6 years. I also went to a few away games last season. So safe to say I do support Braintree.
Jimbo 'genuine supporters'? I support the club as much as anybody else on this forum without question but I dont socialise with anybody from the club, attend socials or stand behind the goals (unless at away games). Basically I go the game, watch the game and leave like many others.
I'm also fairly new to the messageboard and and the conference south messageboard so I'm not familiar with peoples usernames, infact I probably couldnt put most of your real names to your faces.
But despite this, I am an Iron supporter and am quite shocked that this has been questioned seeing as I've posted quite frequently on here recently about club affairs etc.

Oh and 'ontheterrace' I never said baswaldsmate didnt know what he was talking about.
I asked what he knew that we didnt regarding the new centre-backs that he implies have joined in his post on the Conference South messageboard, from what it sounds like the players have signed. If so surely we should be expecting an announcement soon. If not I will wait like the rest for news on new players.

CM7 I think you're one of us. This is the time of the year when us supporters should feel free to speak frankly about what they dislike about the club, players or whatever. When the seasons in progress it's a different matter when we tend to temper any criticism, out of loyalty and not wishing to upset the players. Don't worry mate there are some of us who believe that criticism is not totally a 'dirty word'. In fact, I'd like to think the Board, who I suspect all peruse this message-board from time to time would be open-minded enough to want to know supporters opinions about players as well as the club generally. Regarding that mixed-up Stortford fan ladderman on the Connie South forum. He's totally blinkered and can't come to terms with the fact we've become a more dynamic club than Stortford. More amusing than that, is his notion that I'm the Chairman here You couldn't make it up could ya

People should be able to speak frankly at all times, not just during the close season. For me, criticism is always welcome, but only has a value if it's constructive. To suggest it is a dirty word is childish and, in my experience, I don't think you'll find a more open minded club than Braintree. All are entitled to their views and I really appreciate Jimbo's comments above. It is, of course, easy it is to knock and discourage those that are working hard to build and protect our club. It's easy to say the Club should be doing this and that, rather than lend a helping hand. Personally I have more respect for those people who do offer to share the burden, help improve and take things forward rather than throw sticks and stones. And that leads me nicely on to next Saturday's working party at the ground starting at 11am ...

G'day Webbo, I hope you didn't think I was pointing an accusing finger at directors of the Club. What I was alluding to, is there are a lot of bashful folk out there who wouldn't like to be identified as saying negative things, whether it be at home, work or wherever. I by contrast don't have any such qualms, but then you'd already know that I wonder if this is a post that implies, that I think you've implied, that my post contains implications lol. Thats the problem with text messages no intonation by the author. Keep up the good work. ps. any news on who the new centre backs are?

Of course not Oz, I'm just trying to get folk focused on the important things. Like next Saturday's working party! As to players, when deals are done they'll be on the site - Rod's phone is red hot right now ...

Morning all, on my hols at present so apologies for the absence and hope to be at the ground Saturday morning. I for one do not cower behind a pseudonym and I speak my mind all year long, not afraid to be controversial on any thing connected with the Club, that has not always curried favour with every one, and as you my all be aware that the "all mouth and trousers" brigade ofter shout loud but never come forward to help. All fans that are part of the "family" at Braintree Town are entitled to make comments and a great many do "put their money, where their mouths are" and good for them.
Its sad to see so many first team members drift away to other teams in search of the "better dollar" and we have seen whats happened to them and how many have wanted to return half way through the season as the money runs out.
It will be interesting to see if other teams that have been promoted will be able to step up to Conference football, as harden veterans of this league, we know how difficult it is to maintain a level both on the field and at the Bank!!!
Well I'm back to enjoying the rest of my hols and will be getting stuck in with pre-season preparations in the shop and around the stadium soon enough.
A big "gooday"!! to me mate Phil, got a copy of the Compilation DVD ready for ya mate.

"I for one do not cower behind a pseudonym"
I dont think anybody is doing that are they? Just because certain people arent known by some sections of the Iron support that does not mean they are hiding behind a username on a messageboard when they speak their true feelings.

We do get a bit mysterious with all these pseudonyms - I was asked to give one (I think) and gave one. Actually it does give us a measure of freedom to say what we want to say without getting into face to face arguments at the matches themselves - I reckon Iron Webbo could wrestle me to the ground easily! Still the whole point of a forum is for everyone to express and have their own views and it would be very boring if we all agreed with one another. The only problem with fancy names is the suspicion that some people from other clubs get onto our forum with the sole purpose of making trouble.
