just for those of you who havent checked the other thread, he's signed for Dartford.
Dartfordnow have Billy Burgess, Michael Shinn, Lee Burns, Paul Goodacre and Champion who have all played for us.
I expect them, Farnborough and Welling to among championship contenders.
Seeing as all the other sides in our league have made at least one signing each, we must have brought somebody in by now seeing as we've lost 4 players this summer. Hopefully Martin Touhy (widely speculated to be signing) and Ryan Edgar both come across from Aveley, two players I've heard very good things about.

Same as Goodacre really, solid but unspectacular. They are great together in central defence, thats where Tom is at his best too. Although people will say he can play centre-midfield I think he drifts out of games in the 'holding-role' and is not as effective.
Seeing as you've signed both I would've thought your manager (Tony Burman is it?) has heard what a partnership they are at the back and they'll be your new pairing in the middle of the back four.
Out of interest what did you make of Burgess, Shinn and Burns (who scored a hatful for you, was always played out on the wing for us)?

Burgess has been playing at right back but overlaps down the wing and puts in some great crosses 9/10
Burns I think was signed as a midfielder but before the season started we had an injury crisis up front . Burns was put up front and never looked back . Now he is an out and out striker 10/10
Shinn is playing as the creative central midfield role and given us something that we were missing. In the short time he has been with us he has not put a foot wrong. He fitted straight into the team 9/10

Is Shinn still trying the long ball over the otp to get the break going quickly?
I used to find that a good part of our play but some people thought of it as 'hit and hope'

A lot of our goals seem to come from crosses out wide wide. He sprays the ball around the pitch and always seems to find a team mate but he can undo a defence with a ball threaded though the middle.

I've always rated him, never got why supporters 'slagged him off' now and again. You've got yourself a good player there.
Cant see you being in this league long, would imagine you'll get promoted within two seasons.

Yeah definately, I will be making the trip to your ground (to check out this grass roof of yours) and obviously at Cressing Road.
Hope to see you at both games

Same as Holloway and Goodacre really. Nice lads, that came here for the money and have left to go elsewhere for (yes you got it) the money.
No problem with that but, with them three gone, I think we're all square now!

But don't forget we were the 'mugs' to pay the money in the first place.

No 'mugs' at Braintree Oz, just folk spending what they can afford.

That's good to hear Webbo and also why I was a wee bit surprised to read what strangely had posted. We signed 'em and we paid 'em! I hope they were worth it.

Don't be surprised Oz - last season we could afford what we spent and it will be the same next season. Never do we panic or need to! This time of year, many clubs come out with great promises of wealth and fortune. Players heads are turned by the promise of treasure to come and off they wonder. But the old grass is not always greener and that slow ol'tortoise that is Braintree keeps paying its way, week in, week out. The shrewd stay at Cressing Road, grateful of the bird in the hand, the foolish wonder off. Some find that treasure, but often it turns out to be fools gold. As is traditional, we keep our cards close to our chest - players will come and go. We thank then for their time at Cressing Road and move on. As is often the case when someone quits, you'll find former manager(s) working hard to get 'their boys' clubs for next season. Distraught? No. I am happy to encourage any player that does not want to be with us to leave. Because any player that does move on creates an opportunity for his replacement and, sad tho' it is to see anyone leave our family, many, many more wish to join. So we must be doing something right. Our new man has only been in the job a few days, but is already working hard. Many things are happening and when deals are done, we'll let you know. You know what mate? I think that, if we all pull together, we just might survive!

If you look at the Football League news as well as the Non-League news, clubs seem to be releasing just as many players as they are keeping, so there are going to be major changes in squads everywhere, not just Braintree. The simple point is that, even if a player (like Fabregas who signed a 4 or 5 year Contract last season) wants to go, for whatever reason, there is no way that you can force him to play his best and there is no choice but to let them go.
I do fear that we will end up with a squad that is weaker on paper than last season, but this is why the new manager is crucial; he will have to find a style of play that will get the best out of the new players and perhaps we will end up with a team that is overall as good or better than last season. I have never seen or even heard of his previous club, so I have no idea what type of football he goes for.
