Holland FC of the Eastern Counties league hosted - match report by Dave Ward.
Five goals by new striker Nnamdi Nwachuku helped the Iron to an easy victory by the seaside on Thursday evening when they comfortably overcame their Eastern Counties League hosts in their latest pre-season friendly.
The former AFC Sudbury striker is certainly making an immediate impact in the Iron colours having now scored in all of their first three warm-up matches and in this latest match opened the scoring on 19 minutes, adding further goals on 22 and 42 minutes to complete his hat-trick in the first half.
Iron boss Angelo Harrop fielded his potential first team line-up in the first half and they completely demoralised and outplayed the hard working home side and the second half saw an almost entirely Iron side made up of triallist but with just keeper Jack Sims and Nwachuku staying on the field.
The home side did score a goal on 49 minutes but any hopes of a revival soon disappeared as the Iron continued to push forward and saw two shots come back off the home side crossbar.
An impressive triallist, who is expected to be revealed as a new signing for the Iron shortly, scored the side's fourth goal on 83 minutes but Nwachuku had scored his fourth on 70 minutes before he went on to score his fifth goal on 86 minute to complete an impressive all round evening's performance.
Next up is the visit of Harrop's previous side AFC Sudbury on Saturday at Cressing Road, kick off 3pm before a trip to Canvey Island on Tuesday for another friendly, kick off 7 45pm.
