From this weeks Braintree & Witham times by Jonathan Waldron: Braintree Town confirm Angelo Harrop is staying as manager 16th June
photo by Jon Weaver ANGELO Harrop is staying put at Braintree Town.
The former AFC Sudbury coach is remaining as the Iron's manager, after leading the club to a National League South play-off place in his first season as boss.
Steve Pitt will also be staying at Braintree as Harrop's assistant manager, for the 2023-24 campaign.
Harrop told the Braintree Town website: "My plans are the same as they were last season - to work hard, to work hard as a management team, recruit the correct players for this football club and for us to give it everything for us to have a successful season."It's an exciting season for us, probably a little bit different to last season.
"There's some fantastic teams and I really enjoyed the season.
"Difficult; it was a long season but what a successful season for Braintree Town.
"Our aim is to stay in the league; it's going to be difficult for us and there's a lot of very, very good, strong teams in our league.
"But we back ourselves and we're confident in what we can bring to the football club.
"Our fans were incredible last year so for us it's about trying to build a structure off the pitch as well as on it.
"We do things properly, we're good honest guys and we do the best we can."Braintree Town duo depart for National League South rivals BRAINTREE Town will be looking to reinforce their attacking options this summer after the loss of two of their forwards. Alfie Pavey has left the Iron to join their National League South rivals Farnborough.
The 27-year-old striker joined the Iron from Dover Athletic in January and helped them with their National League South play-off push, scoring nine times.
Pavey told the Farnborough FC website: “I believe it’s a football club that’s going in the right direction. I’ve been speaking to (manager) Spencer (Day) since January.
“I just love the way the club is moving. There’s a lot of progression on and off the pitch.
“I think everyone’s ambition is to get promoted. I can’t wait to get started!”
Farnborough boss Spencer Day told the Farnborough FC website: “A pedigree striker with experience at this level and above.
"Alfie is one of the very best hold up strikers around and as we found out, can dispatch a penalty with aplomb……!!!
“Alfie helped push Braintree into the Play-Offs and will not give centre halves a minutes rest.
"His desire to come meant this was a really easy deal to do.”
Lamar Reynolds has also left Braintree to join National League South newcomers Maidstone United to play under former Iron defender George Elokobi.
Reynolds made 41 appearances for the Iron this season, scoring six goals.
Writing on social media, he said: 'Would like to thank @braintreetownfc for an exciting season.
'We was doubted yet we created some great memories thank you to the players, staff, fans and all involved at the club. Wish you all the best'.
Braintree have announced four friendlies for their pre-season campaign.
The Iron will host a Ipswich Town XI, on July 28.
Prior to that, Braintree will travel to play Ipswich Wanderers on July 8, Canvey Island on July 18 and Hornchurch FC on July 25.

Thanks to Angelo and his team for committing to our club for another season! I believe it was absolutely vital for the club to continue progressing! This season I would like to think that with good recruitment and keeping our best players who want to stay fit and happy we could finish above Chelmo, which should be our first priority every season. So good to hear Angelo and Steve are both staying, but Alfie Pavey will be a great loss. Played very well for us and it’s going to be very hard to replace his quality.

I'm wondering why Alfie is taking a sideward step to play for Farnborough and comments "Pavey told the Farnborough FC website: “I believe it’s a football club that’s going in the right direction. I’ve been speaking to (manager) Spencer (Day) since January.
“I just love the way the club is moving. There’s a lot of progression on and off the pitch.

Does he live south of the river and why does he see Braintree as not moving in the "right direction"?

What's he supposed to say? He has to convince his new fans that he's joining the club for the right reasons (ambitious club with good people etc rather than the reality of it's near my house and they offered to pay me more than other clubs did). It's pretty standard talk and means almost nothing.
In terms of it being a sideways step, it may well not be in terms of wages. Like it or not, most clubs at national south level have more income and a bigger budget than Braintree.

He shouldn't be saying he's been two timing Angelo by talking to a manager of another team for six months. Did he have authority to do it? You or me doesn't know but it's a kick in the teeth for the club he left. Of course I expected him to be enthusiastic about his new club, but that's not the point. If it were me I'd say I'm excited to be at Farnborough, the fans can look forward to me performing at my best.
