So after 8 months of toil and endeavour, Braintree now enter the final three games with fete very much in their own hands. With six play-off spots, there are still ten teams competing for them. Dartford could have secured their place last night, but went down 1-0 at home to Taunton Town, but a lot would have to go wrong for them not to be there. Here's how it looks going forward:-
Tonbridge Angels in eleventh place on 63 points still have four games to go - H v Dartford, A v Chippenham T, A v Farnborough, H v Cheshunt. Potential points total = 75 but I still rank them as outsiders to make the top 7 having to face two of their rivals.
In tenth place is Farnborough also on 63 points and they have 5 games left - A v Slough T, H v Worthing, H v Dover A, H v Tonbridge A, A v St Albans City. Potential points = 78 and they have a good chance of securing a spot if they can overcome their play-off rivals.
In ninth place is Havant & Waterlooville on 64 points and four games to play - H v Chippenham T, A v Oxford C, H v Welling, A v Concord R. Potential points = 76, an in form H & W would fancy winning three of those games, but that would require a dramatic turn around in form having gone twelve games without a win, so I expect them too to miss out.
In eighth place are Eastbourne Borough on 65 points and three games left - H v Hemel Hempstead T, A v Braintree T, H v Concord R. Potential points - 74, the Braintree game will be crucial to both sides chances, an Iron win should end Boro's hopes.
Currently in the last play-off place are Worthing on 66 points and five games to go - H v Braintree T, A v Farnborough, A v Taunton T, H v Hemel Hempstead T, A v Cheshunt. Potential points = 81 but with two games against their rivals and party pooping Taunton to play, it'll be a close run thing to hang on to that spot.
In sixth place are St Albans City on 69 points and three games to play - H v Welling U, A v Dartford, H v Farnborough. Potential points = 78 recent form is decent, but a lot will depend on the games against Dartford & Farnborough, slip ups here and they'll miss out.
Braintree are fifth on 70 points with three games left - A v Worthing, H v Eastbourne B, A v Slough T. Potential points = 79 win two aor one win and two draws should be enough to get us over the line.
In fourth place are Chelmsford City on 71 points and four games left - h v Hungerford T, A v Cheshunt, A v Hemel Hempstead T, H v Taunton T. Potential points = 83, the Clarets have the easiest run on paper with no rivals to play and are currently in good form with a chance of nicking third place
That spot is currently held by Oxford City on 74 points and three games left - a v Dover A, H v Havant & W, A v Bath C. Potential points = 83, they have a superior goal difference to the Clarets by ten goals and should have enough to secure third place.
Finally in second are Dartford on 76 points and four games left - A v Tonbridge A, A v Concord R, H v St Albans City, A v Hampton & RB. Potential points = 88 and I would expect them to secure there current position despite having three away trips.
I'm going for the 2nd-4th to remain the same with Braintree/Worthing either 5th and sixth and St Albans or Farnborough to take the last play-off place.
