Braintree Town book place in BBC Essex Senior Cup Final
By Jonathan Waldron:
ANGELO Harrop was full of praise for his Braintree Town players after they booked their place in this season's BBC Essex Senior Cup Final.
The Iron won their semi-final 1-0 at National League South rivals Chelmsford City, on Monday night.
Matt Rush's 23rd-minute strike proved enough to win it for Braintree, who will now face either Hornchurch or Concord Rangers at the JobServe Community Stadium on Tuesday March 21.
Harrop told the Braintree Town website: "I'm absolutely delighted to get to the final.
"I'll always take this competition seriously and you saw how much it meant to our fans.
"Our fans were absolutely incredible, so huge credit to everyone involved at the football club.
"I was happy with everyone's performance and I have been all season.
"I'm a very, very demanding manager and I've said to the boys that I'm not going to stop.
"I'm going to keep driving this football club forward and they're buying into it.
"I think anyone who watches us this season, win, lose or draw...we're really competitive.
"We're an organised team that give it everything and that's all I've asked since I've come in, that we out-work every team we play.
"I think the fans should be so proud of this team and I want the players to get so much credit, because they fully deserve it."
Braintree return to National League South action on Saturday when they host Hampton and Richmond Borough.
The Iron lie sixth in the table, following their excellent 1-0 win at Farnborough, last weekend.
Alfie Matthews' 80th-minute penalty was enough to secure Braintree's win, in Hampshire.
Harrop said: "It's a big game but they're all big games; every game has been big since the start of the season."
