12th Feb 1966 Greater London League Benevolent Cup Quarter Final Crittall Athletic 3 Faversham Town 2 The selection committee chose the same 11 players who had thrashed Faversham 6-1 in November, hoping for a repeat result. The outcome was a lot closer but Iron squeezed through to the semi-finals with goals from Smith, Rendall and Wayland. Iron were accused of too pretty football as they tried to walk the ball into the net and were very wasteful in front of goal.

The photo is a bit smaller than I'd hoped, but it shows Tierney, Waylen ( correct spelling - accidental typo above) and Rendall in the lighter shirts on the attack, with a Faversham defender clearing off the line. To get your bearings imagine you are behind the clubhouse goal. If you look over to the right, then the fence in the picture is nowadays behind the terracing on that side.
