Iron's impeccable record at Southport won't be taken for granted says Davis

Kenny Davis says Braintree Town won't be taking their 100 per cent record at Southport for granted when they head to Merseyside this Saturday.
The Iron have won all four visits to Merseyrail Community Stadium, scoring 12 goals and not conceding any.
Braintree are on a three-game winning run, where their defence hasn't been breached, and skipper Davis admits that, coupled with the knowledge of their form at Southport, will give them a lift when they step onto the pitch.
"It does make a difference, knowing it has been a good place for us to go in past," said Davis. "I don't know why we've done well there, but long may it continue.
They get a good crowd there and we always take a good following, even on a Tuesday night, probably because of our record.
"We've got goals there and we haven't conceded and the bookies would probably make us favourites. But for us it's just another 90 minutes and we won't be taking anything for granted."
The Iron had a free Saturday at the weekend, with the home clash against Gateshead postponed because the Heed were in FA Trophy action.
The break could interrupt the Iron's momentum following the string of wins, but after playing five matches in three weeks it could also have been a welcome rest.
"We will have to wait and see on Saturday and let that be the judge," said Davis. "We had played three games in a week so it might have been a nice time to have a rest."
The three consecutive clean sheets in their previous matches means the Iron have now not conceded for seven league home games in a row, a club record.
The last goal netted against them by opposition in the Vanarama National League was when Guiseley scored in the 80th minute in their 1-0 win at the Avanti Stadium back in September, a whopping 640 minutes ago.
"We've always had a good defensive record, apart from the first season we came up," said Davis. "But all credit to Danny [Cowley, manager] and Nick [Cowley, assistant manager], they have got us well-organised.
"We defend as a unit and we all know where we should be."
Although Braintree have the meanest defence in the division, with just 21 conceded, they are also among the lowest scorers having netted only 33 times.
Davis says they need to start scoring more and shouldn't rely on their virtually impregnable defence to help them seal narrow victories.
"There should be pressure on us to score," he said. "We can't sit back knowing we have a good defence because one set piece or one deflection takes the points away. We can't take it for granted that we're good defensively.
"We've got to score more goals and punish teams, make sure we kill games off."
Following Saturday's trip north, Braintree host Borehamwood on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm.
