Did you leave before the end? As predicted, DC changed the winning team from Tuesday, Clerima back at right back for Brundle and Sparkes in for Miles. Another first half of both sides sizing each other op, with Guiseley playing the more offensive football. However it was Dan Sparkes who had three pots at goal; one from 18 yards where he fired over and a similar effort from further out with the same result. His third effort fired from the angle to the 'keeper's near post and was turned away. The second half again saw Guiseley with the greater possession before the Iron began to turn the game in their favour. However poor decision making and stray passing in favourable positions paved the way for Guiseley to take all the points after a deflected clearance worked its way back to Craddock who squeezed the ball home from a tight angle. Perhaps a draw would have been an acceptable result ahead of three big games that lie ahead for Braintree.

After the game against Woking I attended the game in anticipation of a win and a move up to fourth sadly those hopes were dashed. We played fairly well in the first half and Cheek should have scored with his head when the goal was unguarded. Some good work from Woodyard was supplying Dan Sparkes with his efforts. Guiseley grew in confidence at these spurned chances and went close a couple of times towards the end of the half. The second half continued with Guiseley dominating the possession which should be said was enabled by the Iron with some bad passing and clearances. I don't think that the substitution of Cox for Cheek was the correct one as their defence was fairly solid. With a bit more patience and eradication of the passing mistakes I thought we could have scored. After good run of results its back to the drawing board for Dan and Nicky. Congratulations to Bromley who have occupied the fourth space.

A superb save by their keeper from a deflected shot by Simeon midway in the 2nd half probably did more than anything to change the result from a narrow IRON win to a narrow win for Guiseley. That said IMO they were better than us particularly in the 1st half and as Danny said after the match we have perhaps had the rub of the green in other closely fought matches recently and lady luck always evens things up in the end.
