Our first home test tonight with Lincoln who became former Manager Alan Devonshire's bogey team. Now he's moved on and plenty of new faces in our lineup that bit of business will have been cleared out of the way. I see from Lincolnshire Echo that Liam Hearn is likely to turn out for "the Imps" tonight. See here: Could Liam Hearn start for Lincoln City against Braintree Town?By John Pakey. Imps boss Chris Moyses has said he will be using all of his squad in the coming weeks Lincoln City boss Chris Moyses revealed that Liam Hearn may have earned himself a starting place in his line-up for Tuesday night's trip to Braintree Town following his goal against Cheltenham. The striker came off the bench to net the Imps equaliser in the 1-1 draw on Saturday. Moyses refused to be drawn on what changes he might make for the trip to Cressing Road, but has stressed that he will be using all his squad in what is a packed month of fixtures for the team. But, Hearn might be one of them.

Firstly the score was harsh. Possibly deserved a draw, however Lincoln were more physical when and were it mattered. Silly to give second pen by little tug when the fat lad might not have got ball anyway meant 2 1. The tempo start of second half was slow and allowed Lincoln to get hold game. Braintree better footballing side but needed to take the chances in the first half. Still look light up front I'm afraid, Cheek needs ball into feet. Akinola and Sparkes lively first half not second. Woodward looks quality. Davis Isaccs not quite at it tonight. Could be a long season with Tranmere to come next.

Guess we should try not to read too much into these first 2 fixtures. We've never won our first match of the season n then bogey Lincoln had to crop up as the second one! The way we played n passed the ball around was excellent at times it's just we needed to make our dominant first half count with that elusive end product. Obviously when that doesn't happen, bogey team or not the majority of teams in this league will punish us every time

I did warn some on here that a successful pre season counts for nought when the season starts. But what I would say is give this team a few weeks to bed in, but at the moment it all looks very, very lightweight up front.

First things first that was a harsh result, Lincoln are not going anywhere this season poor team but are very physical and played to there strength. We just couldn't deal with there long balls which is strange as were normally okay with that. It will take the boys a few games to get used to the new managers and style of play, I will say I thought we played fantastic in parts the pass and move was so refreshing, it will take a few games to get into the swing of it, but the quality is there. Woodyard was by a mile the best player on that pitch, he's always in space and never launches it long and the ball seems to stick to his feet. I'm still hopeful that the iron will start to turn the great play into wins. Come on you iron

Three good chances in the first six minutes and another three by half time the score could have been very different. A soft penalty to them after a push by Brundle saw an equally softly penalty saved. Lincoln got stronger as the game went on and scored within two minutes of the restart after half time. A foul on Simeon and his resulting free kick with a wicked deflection it was all square. Brundles second infringement in the box saw him sent off and the Imps take the lead. The away side then ran the game with the iron looking impudent a rocket of a shot from outside the box and they increased the lead. Braintree did play fairly well for most of the game but it is the old story of putting away your chances.

Typical Braintree, very much like last season. Start brightly, fail to score. The curse of the Imps strikes again. Their (not there) no.9 was strong, won lots of headers and lead their line well and largely dominated our centre backs, unlike our no.9 who's first contribution was to fall to the floor looking for a foul. Agree Woodyard looks good, but would like to see him more advanced; perhaps get Kenny to play a deeper role instead. Cheek still looks incapable at this level and was largely anonymous. Unusually poor performance from Mitch and Remy too had a few lapses with a treacherous back pass. Fry's distribution is still something he needs to work on. Lot of energy, but low on quality; especially in the second half.

I thought Cheek did okay. Excellent control, turn and shot in the first half. It's the defence that worries me. Wide open for the first goal and both penalties. Will someone tell Danny his best centre back is sitting on the bench. He even has No. 5 on his back!

Can see Remy Clerima playing right back instead of suspended Mitch, Paine coming into the centre of defence.... Can't see the midfield trio of Davis, Isaac & Woodyard being displaced but possibly Marks or Cox may come in for Cheek as the target with Akiinola n Sparkes attacking down the flanks??

Hi there. Chelmsford fan in peace.
Cheek is a very reliable target man. He won 95% of headers in the Conference South. Give him a chance, play to his strengths and he will score 15-20 goals for you

I'd rather see Jeremy Walker in at RB. I think we should persist with Cheek. This will be another tough match but we can do it - Up The Iron !

Yes Walker will play RB; as for Cheek getting 15-20, can't see it myself. Clerima & Fry will be first choice CB with Phillips as cover.

That is 7 goals. He got over 30. He is confidence player. If he is high on confidence he will score loads, if not, he won't score lots of goals. Whoever told you that he scored most of his goals in cups against lower league oppo, is a lying git! Or he (or she) is just being stupid
