Sorry, just realised I was incredibly rude not to introduce myself first as it was my first post. I'm Alasdair Gold, the Group Sports Editor at the Essex Chronicle. Anything you'd like to see improved in terms of Iron coverage online and in the paper, just give me a shout on here or on alasdair.gold@hertsessexnews.co.uk

I think the reporting of the iron in the chronicle is of a very good standard. To me we don't seem to be the most forthcoming club on info and awareness. But the match coverage is pretty spot on.
I for one would welcome any new manager. Male or female. As long as they get the team to perform and clear out the dead wood.

Interesting article. Personally I want someone who has actually played the game; especially around this level, or alternatively a manager who's had success at L2/Conf level. What's Paul Fairclough doing these days?

The top female coach is probably Hope Powell who managed England women until 18 months ago,I believe she has all of her UEFA coaching badges. I can't believe we would offer someone with no Conference back round the job.
Would really like to see someone a little more "dynamic" in the role albeit Devonshire did a great job but we need to try and entertain a bit, we have been a very functional side under Devs but it's not been good watching.

Admin are you being paid?. I wish, seriously speaking either paper can sponsor this forum for a paltry £20 a year. In return they get an exclusive banner ad on a local platform which receives on average over 500 hits a day - displayed on home page. Neither facebook page gets anywhere near this number of visitors.

I thought it might be Hope Powell, but I believe she's got a UEFA Pro Licence whereas the chairman mentioned the candidate having got her UEFA A Licence. Of course it may be that he meant the Pro Licence, but I'm sure he knows his different coaching qualifications.

I did laugh out loud reading the Chelmsford soapbox. Moulsham claret thought it was funny that Braintree were speakng to an international about beng the new manager, forgetting the Devonshire was one.
Go for Hope Powell. If nothing else it would be a good laugh and plenty of free publicity!

If nothing else it would be a good laugh and plenty of free publicity! A bit harsh. Why would it be a laugh? I bet she would know more about football and motivation of teams than most of usidiots on here. Have to agree the profile of the club would certainly raised in many areas. One thing is for sure we will be the last ones too know. Looking forward to the game tomorrow if only to show my appreciation to mark Sansom who I have known since I was 10. And get behind the boys one final time on this disappointing season. Coyi

Coyi Putting gender aside I don't think Hope Powell would be a good appointment really, won't have knowledge of National League and local football contacts and going by the performance of England's women during her tenure it would likely be Devonshire MK2 (dour football). I think Danny Cowley of Concord would be the main man, young and hungry for success and used to a small budget, just have to tempt him away from the Island.
