A surprising move. He's been at Rotherham a long while. I thought he was going to end his playing days there - after all he's 31 now. I know he's been pretty popular there and was still playing regularly earlier this season although I've noticed he's been missing in the last few matches. I assumed he was injured, but maybe not. Cardiff must certainly be seen as a step-up but not if he's going to spend his time on the bench. Still one of our greatest exports. Let's hope it works out for him

Alex has missed relatively few games since he joined Rotherham (could have done with him missing Wembley last May)from the O's where he was one of my favourite players. Whilst he's not got the best of goals/games ratios at championship level you know what you get with Alex 100% every game and he was a crowd favourite in Yorkshire not least for his goals against us.
I'm told he had indicated to Rotherham that he would not be signing another contract with the them when his current deal expired in the summer and so they had no option than to accept Cardiff's money and he teams up with Russell Slade who sold him to Rotherham in the first place after telling him he wasn't going to be starting games at the O's ! funny old game football.

Played the full 90 minutes yesterday, scored a goal and flicked the ball on for the second
