Hope we can hang on to this. Dartford have just subbed Luke (Cul-de-sac) Daley. I see Skinny Dave is not in the 16 today; is he injured?

A strange game in many ways which ended up as a superb performance and win for the Iron. An early attack by the Iron led to a handball incident in the box followed up by a spot kick converted by Mr Strutton. After that the game descended into a physical affair with few chances however Reme came close with a header and James went just wide. The rest of the half we were kept entertained by a Tim Howard lookalike goalie and a physical number 5 whom got himself booked after letting off steam to the lino. The second half started slowly but gradually the Iron took control, Simeon Akinola was really enjoying himself with several runs at the defenders and after constant pressure the ball found him on his wrong side of the box to knock the ball into the net. The iron continued to press with several more chances being created and a couple of penalty appeals being turned down. The Darts fans had had enough and most had lead by the final whistle having not seen their team make one goal threating effort. Man of the match was Simeon followed by Matt Paine, Big Al and Remy whom really look like they are creating a good partnership.

There are some very disparaging comments regarding Braintree on their message board. From not agreeing to a lunchtime kick off to "diving and cheating" and having the audacity to beat them oh and the referee was biased old chestnut gets rolled out too, although to be fair one or two admit they were out played.
Have I missed something are Dartford a big club? maybe bigger than Braintree but surely not big enough or good enough to look down their noses at Braintree Town I would have thought.

It'd be ignorant and a bit stupid for any team and their supporters (those who have followed the conference over the last 3 n a half years) to look down their noses at us! It's not like we're a yoyo team like Telford or a Tamworth who had about 5 years up at this level but struggled all the way through, we've had 3 excellent seasons n will quite possibly have another

I seem to recall they've played at Conference level for a season or two, thirty or so years ago. Their ground belongs to the council. like the housing the chavs live in, Dartford is after all Thurrocks south bank.

The comments on the Dartford forum are the usual sour grapes after a poor performance, but it's fairly normal now for other forums to complain about time-wasting and feigning injury. I'm not sure that we're worse than anyone else on the injury bit, but I have to say I sometimes find the time-wasting embarrassing, particularly when a player just leaves the ball where it is when it's gone out for a goal kick, instead of kicking it back to Nick. There was a particular incident last week when Chez saw the ball out by the corner flag and appeared to be showing his better nature as he ran to collect it, but then realised what he was doing and kicked it about two yards in front of him so Nick still had to run to the edge of the field to pick it up. I guess it's regarded as being professional but it sticks in the craw a bit.

I bet Dartford were wasting plenty of time at Wrexham the week before.

Bit rude of scoreboard to show ''visitors'' rather than Braintree ? Pleased with win for Braintree, they are my second and local team.....my little girl plays for U9 Irons so wish them nothing but success. Punch well above their weight imo. Have a great New Year Braintree......Dev is a lovely man. Took pictures with my daughter last time we went to the Amlin.
