A Massive Thank You!! (Picture attached)
Well what can I say but it only feels like yesterday that I returned to Braintree Town as Reserve Team Manager but it was in fact October 2008.
Following a conversation with Chairman Lee Harding I was given an opportunity to join the board of the club I’ve loved since my teens, and yes the pictures were in black and white then, Lol, as an associate member as Commercial Director, after giving it some serious thought and further discussions with the Chairman I have agreed to take the new challenge on with the intentions of achieving good results.
One of the discussion points in this would be my role within the reserves here at the club, my full time role with Braintree Town Academy will not change as we continue to strive to be bigger and better than our competitors, by introducing a Ladies Academy in the season 2015/16 as well as becoming a lot more recognised within the community with activities such as Walk-In Football for the 40+ year olds, Disabled Sport and building relationships with local schools throughout the Braintree District. The Chairman and I was both in agreement that it would give me a better selling platform if I could be at The Miles Smith Stadium for our home games so after much deliberation as from the 22nd November 2014 I will be standing down as Reserve Team Manager.
I have loads to reflect including the amazing season when we won absolutely everything that was put in front of us, I also have loads of thank you’s to people that have been a part of my success as you are only as strong as the team you have around you and I have been privileged to work alongside some amazing people, staff and players.
So to keep this brief my biggest Thank You goes out to Paul Tyler who has been like a business partner and made my job so much easier, thank you to, to the Chairman and Board of Braintree Town for not only the opportunity but the belief to allow me to build what we have thus far. Chrissy and her bar staff for everything they done for us through the years we spent here at Cressing Road, to all the players and coaches I have worked with in the last 6 years within the Reserve Team set up. To my current crop of players and students this is not a goodbye from me this is me saying that in order for you to develop you need the continuity of working with someone who will be there every week and that’s what I can’t commit to within my new role but I will be working closely with Ross who has just joined us from Tottenham Hotspur to ensure that we are pushing you as far as we can, but thank you to you and your parents for the dedication you have showed me in the last couple of seasons, thanks to Mark Bundock who has re-joined my team this season and as always has thrown himself into his work. Thanks too to Wayne Lowry who was a big part of what the academy and the reserves has become in the last two seasons, Wayne has now left the club all together so we wish him well. And finally the guys and girls at Long Melford FC for allowing us to share your facilities and continue running our reserves this season.
I would just like to say well done to the all the people in and around the Thurlow Nunn League that make it and keep it the competition that it is, and to the other clubs that have made me feel so welcome on my travels.
I wish you all the best in your respective futures and I’m sure I’ll bump in to some of you on my travels but for those I don’t, thanks again and good luck.
