News from the League.
TREES DOWN AT SAFFRON WALDEN
Saffron Walden Town’s ground at the "Meadow" looks somewhat different after the poplar trees at the Church End of the ground were felled recently, at some considerable expense to the club. Last October a massive branch from one of the trees fell onto a stand, and the roof had to be replaced. Since then a number of other large branches had fallen, therefore the decision was taken to fell the ageing trees. Visitors will certainly notice the difference.

Two Division One Sides progress in FA Vase.
FA VASE FIRST ROUND PROPER
Saffron Walden Town and Great Yarmouth Town both beat Step 5 opponents on Saturday to progress to the Second Round Proper of the FA Vase. In the Bloaters case it was a higher league scalp for the second round running as they came away from Essex Senior League Waltham Forest with a 2-1 victory. Leighton Crux and Kyle Ingram scored the first half goals. There was an attendance of 323 at Saffron Walden to see the home team knock out Premier Division Whitton United 2-1. Craig Calver hit the winner very late on.
