As no one else has started a thread, I'd thought I'd give it a go. An instantly forgettable game, with one of the poorest first 45 minutes of football I've ever witnessed. Both teams were guilty of constantly giving the ball away or over-hitting passes. Apart from one Akinola shot turned smartly round the post, neither keeper was seriously troubled. Braintree improved second half with Akinola again proving to be a menace, the only criticism I would make of him, is that he needs to alter his attacking threat more by going on the "outside" more rather than constantly cutting in and running into a wall of players. In fact our best chance came about through Simeon jinking his way into the area, only for Cox to miss-hit his shot and the rebound was blocked. Have to wonder why no subs were used, perhaps Sparks and/or Strutton could have made a difference? In the end neither side did enough to win it. I wasn't overly impressed with Woking and wonder how come they are so well placed in the league. I'm sure the Mariners will be a tougher prospect on Tues.

Thanks dbbn, I tried to listen to parts of the BBC Surrey commentary but kept dozing off. Thanks for filling in the details. At least we're arresting the decline, which is something.
Devs on BBC Essex sounds upbeat about the performance, he's encouraged by the fact we finished the stronger of the sides.

Not the greatest of matches but I was encouraged by the second half display. Akinola is by far our stand out player; his jinking runs have these conference lumps in pieces. If only his delicious set up play is complimented by the finishing touch of a decent striker. Jordan once again proved he's not the man. Was quite surprised Charlie didn't get the last 15 mins, we desperately need him fit and firing. I guess the lack of subs was Dev's way of making a stand against the two games in four days. I think if he had of freshened things up we may have nicked a victory against a disappointingly poor Woking side (I guess they were having an off day). Every player played their part in securing a point, which I guess we may have taken against a side in third and having played 120 mins mid-week. I was really impressed with the Ipswich loanee Omar Sowumni, grew into the game and looked strong and calm on the ball. Would be good if we could secure him for a little longer; the lack of a stable partnership in the center of defence, I believe, is playing its part to inconsistent performances of late.

Yes Omars performance yesterday was a big improvement on his game against Altrincham and perhaps he is getting used to the speed and physicality of this level of football having I believe only played in the Ipswich academy and under 21s before coming out on loan to us.
Simeon must surely be the find of the season by Devs and was giving their defence all sorts of problems, so much so they were prepared to stop him at all costs hence the number of fouls committed by their defence against him. With regard to not using any subs yesterday maybe Devs is keeping legs fresh for Grimsby on Tuesday, and with players coming back from injury making sure he has the squad fully fit for Chesterfield on Sunday.
On another topic when are the Weymouth highlights going on the website?

Would agree with what has been said, like to give a mention to Dan Walker who caused the Woking defence many problems in the 2nd half. 1st half we gave them too much respect, but we should have won the game in the end. Great work by Nick pulling off outstanding saves early on.
