The Iron bounce back from Saturdays defeat with a good win against a poor Nuneaton team.
The rain has been falling in Essex all day and in some places the pitch looked difficult to play on.
The Iron Lined up with Remy Clerima back in defence and what looked like Mitch Brundle pushed into a more central midfield role.
The injury picked up by James Mulley on Saturday allowed Chez Issac to play in a right midfield position.
As the game started it was fair to say a few niggly fouls were going in and the Ref was quite happy to stop play for most, The Iron looked positive and were playing in an attacking way, The big former Iron loanee Exhodus Geohaghan was having the better of Jordan Cox in the aerial battles.
Nuneaton offered little going forward and the few scraps they were offered were dealt with by Clerima and Alan Massey, their one shot on target was from 25 yards out taken by James Armson and just shaved the outside of Nik Hamman's right post.
Dan Walker was put through on goal and was only a good defensive block again that prevented him from a shot on target.
The Nuneaton keeper made 2 terrific stops to deny firstly a well driven shot from the talented Mitch Brundle and then showed great reactions to deny Dan Sparkes follow up effort.
The First Half ended 0-0 without further incident.
The two unchanged teams came out for the second half and the stalemate began again. Each defence dealing well with any attacking threat coming their way.
Harsh to say a sending off changed the game but in the 73rd minute Ben Hutchinsons rash and late challenge on Ryan Peters deserved nothing but a red card, The foul was committed right in front of the dugouts and received little complaint.
From then Braintree moved into the ascendancy.
Three minutes later the hard working Issac was brought down on the edge of the area in another rash foul.
The resulting free kick was dispatched with a real class curl from MOTM Brundle, although Sparkes looked the obvious choice as they lined up. Brundles 2nd in 48 hours shows the lad is again an astute purchase from Devonshire of a young versatile player with a good career in front of him.
The goal sank Nuneaton and with the introduction of 3 subs Braintree pressed hard and in the 88th minute the lively and quick Michel Bakare unleashed a great left foot shot in to the bottom of Nuneatons goal to make it a well deserved 2-0 to Braintree.
Next up Braintree are away to bottom of the table Alfreton town. Devonshire will hope off the back of this match that the Iron will be bringing back 3 points from the Impact arena.
