Last night I went to watch Haverhill Rovers V FC Romania in the replay of the prelimary round of the FA Cup, the first game ended 0-0 and one would have expected Rovers with home advantage progress to the next round. However a bright and strong start by the yellow and blues soon saw them ahead with a well crafted and finished goal. Rovers never recovered from missing two sitters in the first half and the visiting side went on to win 3-0.
Anyway back to the subject; A Channel 4 TV crew is following the team this season so it should make for some interesting viewing.
It would be good if we could meet them in the FA cup it would make a competitive match with a noisy atmosphere.

Did the away team have a large ex-pat following?
I ask because I officiated an inter league Sunday cup game a few years back in which an ex pat Sunday League team (not Romanians)were playing. We were staggered when we arrived in the pouring rain and there were about 2500 people of lets say Mediterranean extraction there on a Sunday morning to watch, they had come from far and wide to support their team. Things got a bit awkward as unfortunately we had to call the game off because the pitch was waterlogged and despite the suggestion that a sizable collection could be made to boost the officials fee to get the game played off it stayed. We didn't feel safe to leave the dressing room for an hour after we called it off and when we did we were escorted back to our cars by members of their League committee.
The game was replayed at Haringey Borough under lights 10 days later and there were an estimated 1400 watching amazing for what was basically Two Sunday teams. The team with mass support were very good and won comfortably.

Did the away team have a large ex-pat following? There was only about thirty FC Romanian supporters there and not all off them were Romanian as you will see if the TV series goes ahead! The club was established in 2006 well before the latest wave of immigration and they are showing continued improvement in the Essex senior league.
