Article on BBC Sport website about our fixture congestion. Conference taking a swipe at our pitch saying we have lost 8 games due to it and 17 teams haven't lost a game due to their pitches. Conference basically saying we need to invest in our pitch if you read between the lines, so they expect us to spend money that we don't have? They didn't come out and say anything about Gateshead's pitch last year, as Devs says "I bet they wouldn't be doing this if we were Grimsby or Luton." Picking on the small club who are achieving. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26438871

Having just read this article I think Mr Strudwick needs to take a long hard look at himself and the state of lower league football. Maybe he should concerntrate more on the search for sponsorship for the conference next season. The rainfall and damn hard luck we have suffered may not of affected him in his ivory towers but down here it has been bloody awful. What remarks would he like to make about the away fixture against Halifax being postpned due to a rugby team playing on it 48 hours previous. Surely the role of a leader of the conference is to support and encourage clubs this idiot has done quite the opposite, Wonder how he feels about losing the presige of Luton once they get promoted. I notice nothing has been said about Bishops Stortford who I see had their game against the Claret donkeys cancelled again last night. Thanks for your input Mr Strudwick I hope we now go on and embarras you by making the play offs with our crappy pitch. I hope you get stuck in a rain storm soon, one due at the Amlin on Saturday when we kick the bulls arse and it rains goals goals goals!

I listened to Strudwick's interview on Essex radio last night, and as the interviewer pointed out Colchester have also missed games with their brand new stadium…
Does he really live in the real world? I wonder…
I also thought the interviewer defended us well, fair play to him…

Braintree have suffered bad luck with the weather and other conference clubs sharing there ground with Rubgy League teams.
However I do have sympathy with the article. Whilst other local teams charge an extortionate amount to watch regional level football in a poorly converted athletics stadium, Braintree have done an amazing job and are playing and beating the big boys in a big boys league; and playing at that level brings responsibilities. Having too many cancelled games quite rightly means that questions will be asked.

I'd like to have heard the podcast for that interview, but no link to it We live in such a weird structured world that natural events must never put a spoke in the wheel. Essex with Cambridgeshire are traditionally the nations driest counties. It would appear the South East has borne the brunt of the unprecedented wet weather, reputed to be the worst in a century. It's also generally true that areas which normally experience high rainfall have matching terrain with high run off properties.

He didn't say Premier. There are 68 teams in the Conference.
