Just about right score at half-time with Iron having the slighter better chances with Cambridge having the more possession - going by the BBC Cambs commentary.
Danny Sparkes puts Braintree ahead after 67 mins.
Great win, sounds like the longer the game went the stronger we became, with post and bar denying Braintree their second.

Cambridge didn't have a shot on target. Poor, from a team pushing for promotion.

A great result tonight to start of Braintree's series of home matches. After a bright start by the Iron with a couple of chances the first half slipped into a midfield battle with the Iron defending a line well up the field the dynamic duo were working hard at the back. In the second half despite making three early substitutions Cambridge were not able to get into the game and came of second best to Braintrees hard challenging, A slick run down the left by Bernard Mensar found Dan Sparkes whom slotted the ball into the net. The Iron continued to press and could have had another two goals. An excellent result and a good drive home with two United fans in the car!

Excellent result and well deserved. We couldn't have hoped for a better outcome than 4 points against 2 top sides from our first 2 games back on action. The journey back up the table begins! )))))

What a fantastic result. I thought we made Cambridge look very average. Great team selection some bold choices and a real positive style of play. Like braintreeboy says 4 pts from 2 good teams after such a long lay off..... Play offs here we come. Lets score for fun on Saturday now. Team ratings: Nik - 7 Few dodgy decisions but a clean sheet Ryan - 7 Some good tackles and nulified any threat Sam - 6 Quiet game by his standards. Al - 8 Won everything against some big guys Deano - 8 If Liverpool had these centre backs the league would already be won. Matt - 8 Tigerish display sat in front of defence nicely and only blot was silly card for rash challenge. Kenny -5 Not surprised subbed James -8 Really progressing well growing in stregth and unlucky with 2nd half header. Josh 8 Impressive display and looked more comfortable 2nd half Sean 8 The cambridge defence certainly knew he was there. Bernie 9 - Star man Kid looks a real gem real quality on and off the ball Subs Danny - 8 So much better than last season took goal well and did not let himself down.
Apart from the 50/50 draw lack of availbility the only other downside was the crowd considering how many they brought . Lets hope the scepticle Braintree public come out soon. what with all the midweek fixtures.
And finally Wills your still a CO*K !!

I agree with ironman pitiful crowd since we were playing one of the hardest sides in the league who looked very organised until we opened them up.Well played bernard mensah he is so pacey.Come on iron onwards and upwards!!

Wasn't a great spectacle as a match; too many long balls to no one in particular. Mulley was double marked although managed to wriggle free a couple of times. Mensah; I think there's more to come; he was jumping to early for headers and didn't hold the ball up well; although did exceptionally well setting up Dan. I thought Peters was very poor, no distribution at all from him whilst Wells ans Massey did what they always do well. Sean needs to stop playing the man and looking for free kicks all the time. I expect more rotation as the run of games builds up; time for a few lads to show what they can do against Hyde on Saturday.
