Noone likes to see a manager leave a club so early in the season. However I believe reading between the lines here, the manager lost the players respect and this is a results led business and it seems to have stemmed from when they played us and his negative comments about his teams performances. To me FGR this season is a great example of money does not always buy success. Even with the quality choice of 7 strikers it has to be about the team strenght in depth and consistancey always helps a team and the players. Look at the great example what we have here. A consistent manager, Boardroom and team building gradually on success through consistency. I wish Mr Hockday luck for the future and am not envious of anyone coming in to fill his role. The input of money into the club shows that a return is needed, for Newport last year that gamble paid off, but I think this season FGR will already need to start planning for another season in the conferernce.

I was actually at their recent game at Kidderminster. Whilst the fans didn't like the manager one bit, there was solidarity amongst the management and players on the pitch. Even having lost 4-1 and finished with 9 men, they had a huddle on the pitch at the end. I don't think that happens if the manager has lost the support of the players.
That said, he's made some odd decisions. So many strikers on big money that he has to play 3 up front and another striker in the midfield (magno viera) to justify keeping them all.
