NEW DATE FOR DARTFORD TRIP
Another Thursday match - this one in April
Braintree Town's twice postponed Blue Square Bet Premier Division trip to Dartford has been re-arranged. Iron will now visit Princes Park on Thursday, 11th April, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
BRAINTREE WIN AT STOCKPORT COUNTY
Davis brace and Holman strike - set up Iron's fourth successive win
Iron recorded their fourth successive Blue Square Bet Premier Division victory with an ultimately comfortable 3-1 victory at Stockport County on Saturday. Home keeper Richard O'Donnell had performed heroics before the break to keep Braintree from taking a deserved lead, but could do little two minutes into the second half when Dan Holman put the visitors ahead. Iron kept on coming and doubled their advantage six minutes later when James Mulley released skipper Kenny Davis who chipped the stranded O'Donnell. It was three on the hour when Davis added his second from the penalty spot, County's Lee Bullock having brought down Dean Wells in the home penalty area. Late on Alex Kenyon pulled one back for the home side with a header, but Braintree were good value for their win which lifted them to fourteenth, still with as many as six games in hand over the sides above them. After the game Iron boss Alan Devonshire was pleased: "We've worked hard again and only their keeper stopped us scoring before the break. I told the lads to do it all again second half and that's exactly what they did. I can't ask any more than that and I'm really proud of them!"
