Trip to Dartford off - as Iron look to Thursdays Last night's Blue Square Bet Premier Division fixture at Dartford was postponed as the Princes Park pitch was deemed unfit following a lunchtime pitch inspection. No new date for the match has been agreed. However, a new date for the Blue Square Bet Premier Division fixture at home to Nuneaton Town has been agreed. The Liberty Way club will visit the Amlin Stadium on Thursday, 21st March, with kick-off at 7.45pm. Chairman Lee Harding said: "The loss of our last two matches to the weather has dictated the future use of Thursday evenings in our remaining fixture schedule. Of the two games to be re-arranged, Club Secretary Tom Woodley has agreed a date for the visit of Nuneaton and he is currently talking with his counterpart at Dartford. Following Saturday's trip to Stockport, we will have four home matches in eight days which is far from ideal, but we have little alternative. Needless to say, we hope for kind weather as Groundsman Graham Hockley is going to be very busy!"

with 4 home games in 8 days, perhaps a deal of some sort could be done on tickets?
its a big commitment to make for any fan within that space of time, and i can see attendances tailing off for the later games at a time when the fans are really needed to get behind a tired team.

Something like attend first 3 matches keep your tickets and get 4th match half price?? That way the club will still be getting some revenue in across all 4 matches?? Only problem is that the season ticket holders will moan as they won't be benefitting from attending the 4 matches...... Another possibility is for the chairman to produce a 4 match season ticket for say £50??

very tricky and far from ideal, you're also assuming people have got the time, other commitments ? .

Normally manage between Eight and a Dozen BTFC games a season, so far because of postponements I've done Three and will probably get to a couple more. As an isolated case doesn't mean much but there are probably quite a few who like me follow BTFC when they can and the postponements have obviously hit hard, Four games in Eight days at home I think you will have to brace yourselves for some VERY low attendances. KId for a Quid time or perhaps get to Two and the Third one Free may help but as much as anything else it's having the time to get to these games.

Just a minor suggestion, maybe if you attend the Tuesnight game then on presentation of your ticket for the Thursday night game reduced admission to £5, kids for a quid. The next SaturdayTuesday should remain as normal and then again in April when there are three in a week same again. I think Lee and the Board should consider this option as many will find it difficult to fork out for three £10 plus admissions in one week. Its the most sensible option if a discount is to be considered.

The club give discounts. Don't be silly, I don't think they have ever heard of a discount.

To be fair Stuart, whatever the Club decides you can expect people to grumble. For example if the club gave discounts for pay at the gate spectators, would that in turn upset season ticket holders? Then in three months time will bells start ringing while weighing up the pros or cons of a season ticket? Every decision made on pricing will also come with short and long term consequences.
I don't understand why supporters who come on here saying they can't make Saturdays through work are not coming on here to say the midweek matches will do them just fine. We do appear to have more than our fair share of glass half-empty supporters.
The board are not putting on football for us as some kind of philanthropic gift, it's a business and one where it's nigh on impossible to make a profit - even if the weather behaves. The successful clubs are generally running a very tight ship or have a wealthy backer to write the losses off.

The board are dammed if they do and dammed don't. Do offer discounts to the 4 games, and it eats into the discount that the season ticket holders get by buying in advance. Don't offer a discount then there is the potential that non season ticket holders will stay away and maybe only come to 2 out of the 4. The board need to weigh it up from a business sense, if the board offer discounts to each game than there's no guarantee that attendances will go up so therefore the club will run at a loss.. My suggestion is that if you attend the first 3 at full value you get the 4th game free. Then to please the season ticket holders they get the same discount off there season ticket next year if the choose to buy one for next season. But a very difficult decision for the board to make.
