Wow that commentators got some charisma - not. moaning that he can't see in the "Fog" no doubt that will be the mist coming up off the quag end half of the pitch.
Whoa 2-0 :-)

Sounds like we're unlucky not to have had more. Now it's the Grimsby Managers fault for his team selection lol. Could it possibly be that we've made it difficult for the Mariners?

Superb home performance to kill off the boo boys.... From the first whistle Braintree controlled the game and what attempts that Grimsby could muster up were dealt with by Nath!!! Defence stood up and held firm, midfield hustle n bustled n won a lot of possession n played some great balls for the attackers to run onto... Wingers were a constant threat n provided lots of dangerous balls into the box, front 2 worked their socks off n chased every little thing down..... All in All a good solid team performance, MOM in my opinion Matt Paine who ran his heart out n threw himself in where it hurts!! The only negative was that there weren't enough turnstiles open to deal with the queues!! Grimsby manager after the game for his press reports tried to blame the pitch.... he must've forgot it's the same pitch for us as them!!

On the night we were simply better, I checked back through my notes from last season and it was practically the same team that we beat here 4 -0 with the exception of Aswad aThomas, who to be frank, looked ordinary. I wish I could have heard the commentary I understand a rope was hanging from the Press Box rafters at the final whistle, just goes to show how biased some of these BBC commentators can be...shame!!! We played well over the 95 minutes Luke Daley's goals were good and if not for the antics of their Keeper and the wood work it culd well have been a repition of last seasons result. Well done to the "Hockley Army" for getting the pitch up to scratch for this one, can't wait for Luton's visit next Tuesday.
Well done Alan and the lads.

Before the match and comparing our poor home form with Grimsbys away record I feared the worst. HOW WRONG COULD I BE?? On the Grimsby forum they are complaining about the pitch, their team selection etc but hardly a word about how well we played, and IMO 2-0 flattered them as it could easily have been 4 or even 5-0 again. What have they done to Aswad? because as ironhorse points out he looked a poor replica of our supporters player of the year last season.
Can't wait for the highlights!!

Ironinmeblood is dead right - everyone worked their socks off. Marksie and Holman were great; the wingers caused all sorts of problems, and to be able to bring on Dan Walker as a sub is a real bonus.
Bring on Luton - we do have a pretty good record against them - lets keep it up

As one caught in the queues it was good to see Braintree already encamped in the oppositions half and it remained this way for the majority of the match with town winning the majority of the play. The first half support was excellent with two sections of vocal home supporters in different areas of the ground. During the second half the Iron dominated and Daly scored with a swerved corner kick. As the fog descended the visiting supporters were silenced by a noisy club house end. The result gives encouragement that another season in the BSP beckons.

A very good result for the Iron! Mulley and Daley really did play well on the wings and both practically walked through their midfield/defense and Daley did very well to get the two goals (a very lucky second goal, if I may add but a goal regardless). Dan Walker did fantastic as a sub and I myself and many fans that I spoke to do rate him. Devs, any chance you can buy him? Will be a fantastic asset! Defense held up very well and Nathan did very well to charge down the few attacks Grimsby did have. All in all, a very good performance and I hope we can see more of the same against Luton! For a top team in the league, Grimsby's performance was below par and I'm glad Braintree capitalised on their mistakes with a sense of purpose and desire to win! Also, plesantly surprised with the turnout of Grimsby fans that I had a chat with during the first half. I remember one claiming they will 'have us in the second half like they always do' but credit to the Iron for holding out! Also good to hear the Iron fans making noise and creating an atmosphere! Roll on the Luton game. C'mon the Iron!

Apart from one instance where we let their striker run through on goal and should have scored, that was comfortably the best home performance i've seen this season. We just looked so solid and composed all over the pitch, so much so i wasnt even glancing down at my phone nearly as much as i would be be doing usually hoping the minutes go by as soon as we take a lead! In reference to pockets comment about the grimsby fan thinking they will "have us in the second half like they always do" he must be mistaking us with a team they usually get the better of cos so far in the 4 league matches weve played against them, they've only "had us" once! lol

We played really well yesterday and were a lot better than Grimsby. The team was very solid and Grimsby never looked like they were going to score. Well done Braintree!!! Same again next week please! ;D
