Braintree conceded on the half hour mark. Going by the BBC Essex Mark Babbage calling tonights game and ably assisted by the Braintree & Wit's Simon Spurgeon. Exchanges in this first half sounded quite even.
Macclesfield double their lead on 66mins and again on 80mins.
It's ominous whenever we go a goal down, that seems to be it! Where's the fightback? We don't get one!
Roll on Saturday and the opportunity for the players to redeem themselves.

Yeah, that was about it. We were excellent in the first half hour, got loads of shots in, though not that many on target. Dan Holman looked particularly sharp. We even had a couple of good chances after they scored. The keeper had to dive full length to Dan and teh keeper got across to stop Sean at the far post.
But we didnt have much to offer in the second half, looked gradually more unhappy and it was no great surprise when Macclesfield scored their second.

Can't see why Devs had to tinker with the team from Saturday...... 2 of the players that got good reviews from last couple of games dropped to the bench! Can't understand why as neither appeared to be injured?? Wells got stuck alone in the mud with 3 Macclesfield players around him ready to pounce... Watts at left back got beat far too easily time after time n doesn't pose the attacking threat of Sam!?! Where was Pat O'Connor tonight- it was his sort of game where he would get stuck in!!

Performance looked laboured as Macclesfield dealt better with the conditions. Players are too slow on the ball, looking up 2 or 3 times before playing the pass makes it easy for the defence to set themselves and deal with the situation. There number 7 on the right wing was outstanding, beat his man and played the ball in, where as ours beat the man, then turned back to beat him again then realise we're on our weaker foot so try to beat him again and lose possession. Our wide midfielders are too narrow giving the the opposition full backs too much space when there attacking and not offering any width when we attack so making the middle congested. Desperately need a goal scorer proven at this level!

We had 19 shots with only 5 on target! Macclesfield 11 shots 7 on target! Shooting practice and a proven goal scorer required!
