For those not making the trip to Tamworth today the match is being covered via the internet on BBC Essex. Yours truly and David Brett will be covering the game.
Come on the Iron.

Cracking result! Sounded like we played well and deserved the points. Good to see Nathan back between the sticks, feel a lot more confident with his handling and shot stopping. Didn't hear one mention of a flap at a cross which has become standard stock with Naisbitt. Holman back on the score sheet as well Well done Alan, Keith and the lads!

Terrific result, the match commentary coming through my BBC Essex link was the Colchester game and the dedicated link wouldn't work, so it was Jeff Stelling I listened to instead. 0-1, 0-2, 0-3, 1-3, 1-4 it was music to my ears even at 4am ) Good to see Danny back on the scoresheet. Did the new loanee play a part?

Tamworth 1 Braintree 4
Braintree dominated the first half & deserved to go into the break 0-2 up. Dan Holman scored first on about 15 mins after already having an earlier shot go just wide of the post. More Iron pressure came straight from the kick off & three minutes later the back came to Matt Paine, who fired a low shot through the finger tips of home keeper Breedon. All eleven of the Iron team continued to force the game in impressive style. On about the half hour mark, Sean Marks received a mystery yellow card that set the tone for a poor referee, who eventually booked four Braintree & three Tamworth in a game that was keenly contested but was never dirty. After the break Tamworth had more of the possession but the Iron defense looked strong with the now settled central pair of Wells & Massey. Tamworth realised that this and brought on their top striker Adam Cunnington, who presumably must be carrying a knock, not to start the game. He did make things more difficult both with his height & power. Nathan McDonald playing in goal in place of injured Naisbitt pulled two spectacular saves to keep them at bay. On the hour we got a third from an excellent cross supplied by Holman & the impressive Daley snuck behind the defense to slot the ball home. On 70 mins Tamworth were awarded a penalty for no obvious foul. Although McDonald saved Cunnington’s shot, they scored from the rebound. Tamworth’s keeper then had to make two finger tip saves to keep the Iron at bay. The icing on the cake came with about three minutes to go, when Ryan Watts went on a mazy run and as he jinked passed the defender in the box, he was brought down by a blatant foul. Captain Davis stepped up to score. One of the best performances of the season. Shame hard working Marks did not get on the score sheet. Luke Daley my man of the match. Nathan McDonald showed why Dev’s made a mistake to drop him in the first place.
