Groundsman Graham Hockley has asked for some help tomorrow (Tuesday) to get the pitch ready for the game with Havant & Waterlooville. The rain this morning has left the pitch soft in places and, while the water-table at the ground is very high, no more rain is forecast before Thursday. We have had the pitch verti-drained and we have plenty of sand on site, but need help with getting the sand on to the pitch to assist with preparation. If you can help, please get along to the ground at any time tomorrow to help Graham.

HAVANT MATCH - GROUNDSMAN CONFIDENT Most surface water has gone - but help needed to sand the pitch Good news from the Amlin Stadium with regards to progress on the preparation of the pitch for tonight's FA Carlsberg Trophy First Round tie. Most of the surface water has now drained away and, although the pitch was frozen early this morning in one or two areas, we are now confident that the game will go ahead. Groundsman Graham Hockley could still do with some help this afternoon putting sand on the pitch - so if you have a few spare hours later today, please pop along to lend a hand - you'll be assured of a warm welcome. No pitch inspection by a referee is planned, unless we have any more rain, but the forecast for today is mainly dry. Kick-off this evening is 7.45pm.

Have to say there will be some doubt around tonight's game..... It's currently raining here in braintree n some areas of the pitch are already a little damp.....everything else is ready n pitch all marked out so hoping for a dry couple of hours! Don't envy Graham's task of clearing the sitting water n boggy patches!?!?!

With most of the East of England bathed in sunshine, it's nice to know that Braintree has once again bucked the trend with afternoon rain.

Thanks must be given to Graham for all his hard work today to get the game on. I was at the ground earlier today, and he was working his socks off to ensure it went ahead.
The beers are on me Graham.
