Good for him. I wouldn't be content sitting on the bench. Especially after achieving England recognition last season and watching the lad ahead of me flap at nearly every cross that comes into the box.

I hope this is just with a view to getting him a game on Saturday ahead of reclaiming his rightful place in the team next week. Leaving Nathan out has been ridiculous, particularly with the mistakes and goals flying in over the past few weeks. An outfield player would have been benched weeks ago.

Nathen's been wanting to go on loan all season to get some game time and been refused. When Devs under pressure to put him in the side he's let him go out on loan.No doubt Devs will make some excuse about now being knocked out the FA cup,but i would put down to not wanting to drop Danny.

A lot of discussion in recent weeks over who our preferred keeper is, in reality both are quite ordinary at this level. No one from the Conference wanted to buy Nathan in the summer and Cambridge released Danny, they can't all be wrong! I've read somewhere the Club are now looking for someone else to go between the sticks. Like goal-getters, these are as rare as hens teeth and don't normally come available on a free. In the meantime, instead of making Danny the scapegoat for all the goals conceded, our defenders should of reduced his exposure. Looking through some of our match stats, the number of goal attempts by our opponents is horrendous. The more attempts they get, the more likely they'll score, I've noticed that . So our outfield players should also take some responsibility for continually letting our opponents through. Going on a number of reports, some of our guys are at times not even bothering to chase lost causes or loose balls, something which has been our 'stock in trade' since Borgy's days.. It'll be great for Nathan to pick up match experience, he's still a young fella and still learning. I think with the right development he has a future at Conference level. One side of his game which I'd like to see him develop is ball throwing techniques for whenever it's appropriate to play the ball that way. In the matches I've seen, he routinely gathers the ball, bounces it around a bit followed with the big boot - perhaps the boss was telling him to do it? IMO to bowl it out to a defender in space, can mean the beginning of a structured team move. The big boot may momentarily put a bit of space between keeper and the ball, but more often than not the opposition just collect the ball and start a move of their own.

It's the 1st time ozbrit i have got to disagree with you,Nathen couldn't go any where with the club asking a fee so it put's clubs of.You say the defenders should have protected Danny if you look at the stats our defence have had more pressure on them in most of the games this season than the opperstion you say that in your comments by saying big boot from keeper and they come back. You could also say the midfield should have helped the defence then may be the forwards should have helped the midfield by holding the ball up and scoring more. The whole team are in this together and that includes the managment who only shout and scream and says nothing constructive.

I don't blame Nathan for going, he has done nothing wrong and we are in the bottom three and he still can't get a chance in the team. He broke in the England team last season and how has he been re payed by being left on the bench apart from the West Ham game where the lights went out. I just hope the club have not puts the lights out on his England career and he proves he should never of been left on the bench. Good luck Nathan prove them wrong mate

It's the 1st time ozbrit i have got to disagree with you,Nathen couldn't go any where with the club asking a fee so it put's clubs of That's okay Jacko mate, I don't expect that many will agree with me. So Nathan was under contract over the summer break? That aside I can see that Nathan's popular with the fans. I did seen him in action last season and never once saw him bowl the ball to an outfield player. By your comments, I assume that Danny isn't doing it either, perhaps it's Devs policy? I'm even less qualified to comment further on Danny having seen him in action once on the telly. I have heard comments like he's a good shot stopper, but has problems catching. I suppose it's normal that supporters will show some loyalty to players they're familiar with. Then when new players come in they'll be given less leeway if they don't appear to be much better than the one's they're replacing. Being 12000 miles away, I'm just a saddo poring over statistics and watching video clips, listening to match commentaries etc so never can get close to the players - To me they're just names most of the time, apart of course from Bradley who was already at the club during my last extended stay in Essex 2002-4. I recall seeing him play at such exciting venues as Ford United who played on a mud patch behind the car breakers at Barkingside. Craig Edwards was managing them and I believe Ben Embery us. We lost 3-0 There is one thing that unites us all and that is the continued well-being of Braintree Town FC both on and off the field

Nathan is a young player who deserved to play again at the start of this season after his performances last season. There was no logic to bringing in another keeper in front of Nathan & the only reason I saw from Dev's was to supposedly give give Nathan some competition. So we have ended paying for two & peeing off the one who did good for us last year. Just seems dumb!
I do agree with Ozbrit that goals conceded cannot always be blamed on the keeper. But if you don't understand whats happening on the pitch to some degree, that would be a natural assumption. Just as Dev's blames the strikers for not scoring. This is a team game & it is the workings of the team as a whole (including the manager etc) that are responsible for both the bad stuff & the good on the pitch. In the end, the manager takes the can because he picks the team & the style of play. As we are a small team we have to believe that the "whole is greater than the sum of the parts". But I have not seen much "whole" this year. I think Dev's luck has run out & he has lost his way. I do have my fingers crossed that he might find the right path before it's too late

Thanks for the insight Steve, you're not normally too far off the mark on these things.
