Couldn't go to the game today, just got in from work. I cannot find who played today. Was it the same as on Tuesday?

The game was all long ball stuff by both sides. Problem was that when we did it we lost possession every time, and the winning H&W defender just hoofed it back into our goal area, where we struggled again to trap the headers. This was pretty obvious, and I said as much last year, from early in the game, and we should have changed tactics, but we didn't. Just for a short period, soon after Jon Keeling was brought on, we started to pass the ball around a bit and a goal began to seem possible. But it wasn't to be.

For a team that is supposedly fitter than last season i was majorly disappointed today!!
We were second to nearly every ball and when we did get the ball we wasted it with a long hopeful punt up front, cant remember a shot on target for us all game!
We missed too many 1st choice players today - Marks, Peters, Mingle and Moran!! and what has Jonesy done wrong to be a bench warmer- could do with bit of his bite in defence rather than stand off all the time!!!!
George Purcell needs to learn to look up and see what optons are available rather than shooting every time he gets the ball, TJC has had his game and now seems lightweight.
Does Robbie Garvey have a touchline ban???(It never did us any favours having a previous manager in the stand for 90mins)
Message to players - Have a good night in Faces to forget todays game and be refreshed for next week at Welling, as majority of us supporters will be drowning our sorrows after todays poor show!!

Couldn't agree more. Looked forward to todays game but as so many others was disappointed in our performance. We just don't seem to be the same team without Marksy,Mingle and Peters. Will somebody please teach Nicky to kick the ball half volley where the flight gives our forwards the chance of a flick on instead of hoofing it way up in the air where most of the time opposing defences clear it. I thought Antoine worked hard but our midfield seemed incapable of supplying balls for him to run onto. I know this sounds like a bitch, but after our great start I really thought we were on a roll. Perhaps I need to revise my expectations.

Came up against a well organised team today. Some would say men against boys! However you have to play with what you have when others are ruled out! The keeper and both central defenders continuously pump the ball forward to nobody. Maybe playing the ball out to the full backs may give a better angle to lay a pass into the front players. Nobody seemed able to hang on to the ball long enough to create anything going forward. Still it is early days and one poor performance should not see to many changes. A good performance nextweek and the smiles will return.

"We just don't seem to be the same team without Marksy,Mingle and Peters".
Well we didn't have any of them against Hampton either and we played pretty well, so we can do it without them.

Sums up the game well. Stood off the oppo far to much and they used the ball better and had runners all over the pitch in particular up front. Could have saved an unexpected draw if Quniton had placed his shot rather than hit it over the bar and the less said about the second goal the better. For a big keeper I have never seen anyone not use his size to his advantage and command his box worse.

Hi Iron4. 2goals in the last 2 games, 7 in the first 3. No Marksy, Mingle or Peters in the last 2. I stand by what I said.

The manager has come out and said he is looking for a reaction from the players after this defeat, so lets get behind the team who ever is in the starting line up and hope he is right and they get back to winning ways against Welling!

I was dissapointed with the result, but in this league everybody beats everybody at some stage through the season. We need to keep our heads up as supporters as up until know we have done well, can't critise after 1 defeat this is a miner set back.Lets support the team with encouragement not slaging certern players of it's like strikers they perform better when the ball is on the ground rather lumped from the back.Lets hope Marks is back playing Saturday and our other injured players. I thought the team were very quite on the pitch and assistant didn't seem to say much to encourage,Garvs does need to be in the dug out. I thought the lino on the dug out side was a pathetic little man who didn't have a clue.

Hey we are all Iron through & through or we wouldn't be here on the forum. Evereyone's opinion differs but we all want our team to be up there. Am looking for a better performance on Sat at Welling. On a purely personal note what a great result at Newport.

Blimey, one bad result in the first month and some people seem to be saying "We're doomed, we're all doomed". Thank goodness the majority are supportive and that is exactly what the team need - no more negative thoughts, but good vocal and positive attitudes.
It is a fact of Braintree life over the last few seasons that if we are hit by 2 or 3 injuries or suspensions to our first-choice first team players, then our performance really drops and we struggle. But it is a fact of life that we cannot afford a squad of 22 first team quality players. The difference this season is that we do have a lot of younger players who can step in and I suspect they will need a few games in the first team before improving and, with fingers crossed, in the second half of the season, we should be putting in more consistent performances and I have a feeling in my waters that we are going to be sneaking into the play-off positions (again).

Jimbo - wash your mouth out with all that positive talk of play-orfs! But you're right of course. Saturday we got caught early by Havant - then had a go for an hour to get back in the game (hit the bar, etc.) and then made a mistake at the back when we were pushing up with ten to go. It happens. All five games together, we're still light years ahead of last season. 10 points from our first five games is a good start and we've got three quality players that will be gagging to get back in the side for next Saturday.

Very dissapointing, missing Marks yes, missing Mingle yes, but were missing Peters & Bailey-Dennis also. Starky is good at right midfield, but struggling at right back. Lost possession at Hampton for the first goal. With Bailey-Dennis missing from central defense for second half of Hampton and for Havant game, the defence has looked uncomfortable with two goals scored in six yard box, unmarked, and one large cock up. Bruce is looking uncomfortable being right footed playing on the left missing Peters speed and enthusiasm badly in attack down right. Purcell not been the same since Marks injury but supply has been bad just a big boot down the middle instead of balls down line over full backs. I thought Havant, although a good side were no better than Eastleigh or Hampton just that we gave them too much room in midfield and the defence could have pushed up another 10 yards. I also think like others Robbie could do with being in dug out maybe Jason Broom could go in the stands.

Thanks to the hightlights on Iron TV, I managed to catch up after being away for the week-end. I know 5 mins of hightlights does not necessarily reflect the game but the second goal was very sloppy but we did seem to have several chances. Not all lost yet people.
