Change is inevitable when a new manager takes over. New blood is fine. But you can't buy experience, so you need to keep some tried & tested players on the pitch to bring up the new blood.

First off, I wish Louis, Mark, and Billy well and thank them for all their hard work. What a pity most of the others never put in half their effort. Secondly, after not bothering last year, I am already looking forward to the new season. I even have a few marketing type ideas if IW is interested. Would I rather watch a bunch of players look like they are doing the club a favour by turning up each week or youngsters hungry to show the world their talents and hope to get a move to the 'big time'? My own hope is that we blend some experience (led by Mr Quinton, who is soon to be looked at as one of the old blokes of the team) some Braintree youngsters that have been knocking on the 1st team door the last few seasons, and some young loan players from D & R and others. Inexperienced? Sure. Keen and up for it? You put your house on it. I also can't believe how few 18 - 25 year olds are in our crowd. Surely by putting a few Braintree boys in the team we will start to attract their mates, and hopefully get a few more spreading the word. I am still amazed at how many people I talk to in the town and local villages that have never even thought of coming down to Cressing Road. Indeed, most of them wouldn't know where the ground is! And thirdly (is that a word?) no, we are not a 'big' club. Sure, we get more than some clubs, but mark my words, there will be a lot of casualties in the next few years. I am a Mortgage Broker and I can see some frightening parallels in the way that football clubs will follow home owners who never thought that tomorrow would come and debts would have to be paid. Having done some work for our commercial department in the past I know how big a debt of gratitude we the fans owe this and the previous board. If we have a team that gets people wanting to watch, the crowd will increase, the cash will come in, and then perhaps one or two ex league players could be brought in to further increase interest in the team. As a country people are cutting back on their spending, so this is the ideal time to attract those that need their footballing fix that can't afford to go to see their 'main' team. For healthy, well run clubs like ours, there has never been a better time to 'sell the brand'. PS. And if Robbie is only using us as a stepping stone to taking over a league club, I for one would be very happy. Nothing brings other teams looking at your manager or players faster than success. If he gets a team with a modest budget into the Conference, then of course he'll find suitors. And I would personally drive him to Dagenham if he's leaving us as BSS Champions. Come on the new look Iron!

I think some very good points have been put. One thing I am sure of we ran out of steam and lost games we should have won. Only a fool would not address this. Smaller wage packets= Bigger squad. I look forward to working with the new faces and wish all the old ones good luck. roytheboy.

Bigger squad = competition for places = raised level of performance in fear of losing starting place........................... can only be good for the team!!!
