Braintree Town v Hungerford Town
Hungerford Town are currently 2nd in the VNLS table on 12 points.
They appointed a new manager in May this year taking Danny Robinson from Thatcham Town. He replaced Ian Herring who had seen Town at the bottom of the VNLS table when the season was annulled.
Robinson has made a good start to the season as they have won four of their five League fixtures so far, but their F A Cup run ended at the first hurdle as they were beaten 4-0 by Truro City.
Their League victories came without conceding a goal against; Chippenham Town (3-0), Concord Rangers (1-0) and Dorking Wanderers (2-0) at home and a 1-0 win at Tonbridge Angels. Their only defeat to date in the League came at Ebbsfleet United where they went down by 3 goals to 2.
Top scorers for the Crusaders last season were centre back James Rusby and full back Joe Tomlinson (now at Eastleigh) with five goals each.
Striker Ryan Seager signed from Yeovil Town has already matched that goal tally already. Five other players have one goal each.
Braintree meanwhile are still seeking their first point of the season and are bottom of the League. Last time out they came out losers in a seven goal thriller against previously pointless Hemel Hempstead Town. The visitors opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Olumowewe, but Liam Smyth hit back immediately for the Iron. Striker Romario Dunne then put the Iron ahead on 37 minutes.
The damage was done in three minutes at the end of the half as Bateman, a Fielding own goal and Jake Evans gave the Tudors a two goal half time lead.
The second half saw Kyran Clements pull one back for the Iron from close range on 77 minutes.
When the two sides met at Cressing Road in November last season, the visitors went away with all three points following a 3-0 victory with two goals from Cameron McGilp and one from Liam Ferdinand.
Having solved the goal scoring problem last weekend, Braintree now need to sort out how not to concede if they are to take any points from a revitalised Hungerford.
