Emirates F A Cup
Third Qualifying Round
Tuesday 13 October 2020
Braintree Town v Maldon & Tiptree
Maldon & Tiptree are currently 2nd in the Isthmian League North Division and are currently unbeaten in all competitions. In the League they have played four games, winning two and drawing two.
The tie with Braintree will be their fourth in the F A Cup. Their campaign started on 12 September 2020 where they travelled to Hertford Town and beat the hosts one-nil with Aaron William-Bushell scoring the winning goal. Next up was a visit to Haverhill where they came through comfortably three-nil. William-Bushell was on target again along with William Cracknell and Scott Kemp.
The next tie was a close run affair against Grays. Adam Vyse opened the scoring in the second half before the Jammers Kemp was sent off following a second yellow card. Grays took advantage and drew level before Grays’ Omolabi sliced the ball into his own net. Grays managed to level scores in the 95th minute to take the tie to penalties where the Jammers came through 5-4.
Last time out in the League, the Jammers beat Felixstowe & Walton United three-nil with Vyse claiming a hat-trick to take his season’s goal tally to five.
One familiar face Iron fans will recognise is former keeper Ben McNamara who will be out to thwart his former employers.
Braintree meanwhile have yet to record a victory in 90 minutes in their opening three matches and have only found the net on one occasion. The last game saw them lose away at Chippenham Town where the hosts managed to score once from their twenty efforts at goal.
This will be a tough local derby again behind closed doors. The extra income available to the victors will ensure a hard fought game ensues.
