Another relegation 6 pointer and another blank for a young Braintree side. Enforced change from last week saw the assaulted Clements replaced by Sheehan, while Matsuzaka was inexplicably dropped which saw Iontton drop back to partner the captain and Jack Smith reinstated in midfield. From the off St Albans were the busier side, better in possession and moving the ball with purpose. Iaciofano had a chance as he turned his marker in the box but shot straight at Johnson. With the Iron struggling to make any progress in the opposition half, it came as no surprise when the visitors scored on 15 minutes. Quick accurate passing from left, to centre to right, first time cross and Iaciofano was there to sidefoot home with the help of a deflection off Johnson's knee as he tried to get back to save. With half hour gone and George clearly not happy with what he was seeing, he took off Curelli and Cooney and brought on Smyth and O'Keefe. Braintree's only worthy effort of the half came following a corner. Although City cleared the original corner, the ball was fed out again to the flank and this time a pinpoint cross was met at the far post by Sheehan and although under no pressure, he headed over. Johnson was also alert to prevent a low drive at his near post froom going in with his foot.At the other end City had a clear headed chance from a corner but they too couldn't find the target. In the final minute of the half City were awarded a dubious penalty. Struggling to clear their lines, the ball fell for Ionnton who had to stretch to get the ball away and although he made contact with the ball and it moved forward a City play clattered over his outstretched foot and a penalty was given. Iaciofano stepped up to take and although well struck low to Johnson's left, the Norwich loanee was quickly down to parry the shot away. If George had words at half time, then they appeared to fall on deaf ears. St Albans were on the front foot again from the off and looked likely to get the second that would surely seal the points for them. One shot was driven across goal and just wide of the far post. A cross to the back stick was met with with a shot from close range that Johnson managed to block.George made a third and final change withdrawing Gardiner-Smith for Brendan Ocran. Braintree tried to gather some momentum and the lively Smyth looked the most likely, peppering the goal with shots from distance, but not with the accuracy of the last 2 games. Russell got in down the right when Bender stumbled and his first time cross was touched away from Chiedozie by a defender and only just past the post. In a desperate attempt to fond an equaliser, Sheehan was sent up front, but City were comfortable in seeing out the closing stages. That result dropped us back into the relegation places, only the corona virus can save us now.

Things are looking grim now.
Another negative aspect is we're spurning the opportunity to cash in on the big clubs loss over the virus. Over the years of following Iron we always seem to manage these moments badly either from a commercial or playing perspective.
