Got to get three points today!
Two new items in the club shop today! First and foremost there is an attractive new aerial ground photo postcard for sale at 60p. The drone view photograph has kindly been supplied by Matt Amos.
The Winter issue of Groundtastic (no.99) is out today, and features our mural on the back page. It contains 80 pages of news and photos on football grounds old and new around the world. Of particular interest to Iron fans will be the colour photographs of the new stands at Boreham Wood and Bromley. Price is £6 and are sure to sell well.
We received a number of current season programmes from our Newport County friends last night, including Swansea, Crewe and the Wales national side.
Finally, if anyone is interested in bringing a long forgotten 1920's era Crittall badge back to life, see me in the shop today!

A cold Saturday afternoon at Cressing Road and the team gave little to warm the crowd. Player/manager Hutchings was presumably injured as he didn't name himself as a sub, but an improvement on last week saw 4 on the bench instead of 3. Frimpong who hasn't played since he injured himself was forced into partnering Clark in central defence. On the right flank was another chance for Murrell-Williamson and with Richardson taking time out to recover from injury, young Cerulli started up front. There was no early goal to get the boys on the front foot, but it took only 3 minutes for Borough to get in front. Yet again, a player was allowed time and space to deliver a cross and although not a particularly dangerous cross, MJ had decided to come way out to catch/punch. did neither and the ball looped into an unguarded goal via Donaldson's head. An injury to a Borough player saw Soares introduced and he was to double the visitors lead on 17 minutes. Borough were trying to work an opening on the left side of our area, playing little give and go passes, whilst this was going on, Soares was in space on the right side of the area with no orange shirt within 5 yards of him, eventually he was picked out, controlled the ball and drilled in a powerful shot across goal. There seemed to be a change in tactics from the Iron with less sideways/backwards passing and more longer punts trying to turn the Borough defence. These passes were largely ineffective and our vulnerability in giving the ball away in our own half, saw Borough make most of the running and create chances keeping MJ and the defence busy. Banton had a few efforts at goal, picking up a partially cleared corner on the left before firing over, taking a direct free-kick, again well over and a speculative first time volley from a clearance thumped well over. The best chance for the Iron came towards the end of the half when James was played in on the right of the box, but shot at the keeper and from a right wing corner, Clark when placed centrally, glanced his header wide. Cole picked up a knock in the second half to be replaced by Barker just short of the hour. Akinyemi had tried to curl one in from the edge of the box, but sent it just wide, but the Iron were not really testing the opposition. Inevitably Borough sealed the victory with the Iron conceding another needless penalty. Green seemed to have won the ball and then left it for MJ, neither dealt with it and a Borough player was able to retrieve the ball before being fouled, Hill powerfully placing the spot kick into the bottom right corner. Heads appeared to drop and Sade and Skubich were given a run out in place of Banton and Kirkpatrick. In stoppage time, Charlie Wassmer scored his second of the season against us having headed the winner for Billericay back in August, again powering home a header from the centre of the box. The team is clearly short of players as for the second week, we couldn't fill the bench and of those on it, and two of them have been kids. I was critical of the style of play when we were trying to play out from the back, but todays showing was worse. Players seem disinterested and try and do their own thing on the pitch. Nearly every attack goes gown the left flank - why? Banton, a player once courted by PL clubs is strolling through games, young Green has been found wanting too often, again no bite in the middle of the park and so far Akinyemi has shown nothing that carries a goal threat. I cannot see where the next win is coming from and having no competition for places doesn't help. As poor result follows poor result, fans stay away and any hope of bringing in infrequent visitors in at £15 a go, means even less income. This coupled with two early cup exits and a second consecutive season of no sponsorship means there is only one way to go from here and it's not up. I'd be delighted to be proved wrong, but the option of JK as manager is clearly not working.

What is Bradley Quinton doing these days? In my opinion he should of been retained as relegation was on the cards regardless of who managed last season. We need stability and Brad could provide it plus he's shown how he can succeed without a pot of money. Going on dbbn's report the players aren't prepare to sweat blood for the club.

You are the most negative person to report on matches I have ever encountered, if I had anything to do with the club I wouldn’t let you nowhere near training as you do not have a clue what is going on behind the scenes, or hard it is to bring in players when the playing budget is so low. You only have to talk to JH or JK as you call him after a game to realise how hard the situation really is. I feel for the young fella as once you talk to him it’s obvious it is not a appointment that he looked for or wanted. It’s really easy to be a keyboard warrior but be really careful what you wish for as the Braintree managers job isn’t the great gig it used to be.

Most of what you posted is valid but some of us, particularly those of us unable to get to games actually appreciate a match report - warts and all. Perhaps loyaliron you could pen your version of the game as opposed to criticising the one and only who does put in the effort. 0-4 at home to mid table opposition is about as bad as a result can be, when not a one-off. The players have proven they can do it eg. Hemel Hempstead which suggests the current slump is not only about lack of money or ability. Striking the right balance between positivity and negativity's a hard one for absent fans to gauge, but I certainly wouldn't want to see consecutive league results of 2-6 and 0-4 reported as bad luck stories.

The Hemel Hempstead game that you quote was before interest from other clubs. So now on the back of that performance we have numerous clubs putting in 7 days requests for our players, so obviously some of our players heads have been turned and some of them possibly want to be elsewhere. So they are not putting in 100% and do not see their future not at Braintree

I was going to respond in length to the post. However let's keep it short. Loyal arse lick, or whatever. Most people know the incompentance, bullshit, and the workings behind the sceans. And as stated they don't give a shit as it's been going on for year's. And no one cares. An honest aprisal of the game over many of year's, is good enough for me. Don't like it then piss off, don't read it. And don't respond.

It seems to me that most of the fans that actually pay their money and come through the door are supportive of what’s goes on, but the keyboard warriors who are gutless mugs and never actually turn up to a game are the ones with the biggest opinions.

Sorry if you find my report negative, but if you regularly read them, you'll know I'll give praise where it's due. I like to think I deal in reality and you cannot dress up that performance today. I do agree about the financial restrictions and the blame for that can only lie with the board. If you would like to do the next home match report, I'll gladly sit back and read it.

DBBN don't let the troll win, you are doing a great job and there is nothing wrong with being honest but being honest at this club gets you nowhere I'm afraid as you soon get hounded out by certain individuals I guess that the troll had one too many of the alcoholic beverages yesterday and decided to abuse people going by the language used by that person. I am one of those people who don't go due to the fact that I refuse to pay £15 for rubbish football and in actual fact for £5 more you can get a better game at Colchester United, I feel like your being ripped off at Braintree The club that is going downhill very fast and coming from someone who has watched the club from the Ryman league days many years ago What has happened to this club that I used to go to all the time as I hear and see all the time on social media of supporters arguing all the time if they don't agree with what people say. People have the right to say what they feel without being abused by certain individuals who shall remain anonymous. We all should be supporting the club through good and bad times
