Rumours are rife on Twitter that Danny is being lined up for the Colchester Utd job after Kevin Keen leaves the club.

If he does get the Colchester job he'll have to give up teaching....

I can't think that Danny would chuck in a good secure career for what is one of the worst jobs security wise in the game. When fans get desperate they get desperate, remember how it was mooted they wanted Devonshire? Well that would have gone well for both parties I'm sure Then there's the little matter of compensation over a broken contract. Yep I'm personally confident that Danny has a wise head on his shoulders and can see that working out his contract with Braintree would only enhance his reputation. Though I think we can all see the day, unlike Devs who is a good non-league manager when he's given the opportunity to manage at a very senior level - if indeed he so chooses to take that career path.

Gary, or Garry? No. I think you'll find he's heading towards one of our neighbours.

Presumably, if it didn't work out at Colchester for Danny he would always have the option of resuming his career in teaching. He might even be in line for, say, a two-year sabbatical from teaching....

That could be good news for Braintree. They always replace the manager with a much better one.

I somehow feel that we would be extraordinarily lucky to find anyone as good as this pair.

Yes good news for us probably bad news for them. They've gone for another internal appointment as the strategy has proved to have been so successful lately! There has been quite a lot of churn amongst the other national league teams and a couple of managers under pressure due to not delivering the results. Speculation about Danny's future will no doubt continue.

Danny wouldn't move sideways to a cut throat fellow national league club who'd no doubt have less patience and inflated expectations. Think he likes his PE job too much for all that.

Anyone else felt deja vu reading the Mitch Brundle thread? THE RETURN OF UNSUNG HERO GARY.

Mixing him up with BBC's Gary Crowley I think, easy mistake to make.
