Not to mention, making a mess of the pitch. Who in their right minds allowed over 100 games to be played on the pitch at this time of year, and at what cost to the 1st team.

Have to agree this is crazy. If today's game is called off. Someone has some serious questions to answer. Even in that report it says spare a thought for the groundsman who has to turn a quagmirein to sosomething fit for conference football. I hope Kidderminster fans not set off yet. Not happy.

Totally Agree. Surely some youth tournament should have been played on the training pitch?! If the money the club pulled in was worth the lack of Saturday action then I guess financial wise it's not so bad. Now though for the kiddie fixture we're looking at a cold wet Tuesday evening with a crowd of around 450 or less

The kids tournament was £2 to get in, I was surprised my nephew was playing on the main pitch, four games at a time.
And even more surprised when trying to exit the car park at 12.30, and could get out due to persons turning up for another tournament in the afternoon...
Crazzzzyyyy....

Probably the main reason for the game being called off today!!i understand that there's lots of dedicated volunteers who work on the pitch (and hats off to them) but it's an embarrassment when we're the only game in 5 leagues to be called off today!!perhaps the powers that be should be interested in getting the pitch (that has had a lot of games called off in the past 5 seasons) sorted rather than just making money from it!!we may be a part time team but we can't have a part time pitch.and to be honest we haven't even had a lot of rain yet

The main reason for the waterlogged pitch today was the rain, overnight and the downpour this morning.
One of the problems we have with situations like today is accommodating sides that travel distance to get to us. Kidderminster were leaving at 8am, so an early decision was necessary. We could leave it to 1.30 and let the match referee decide but, if we do, then the visiting club can claim their travelling expenses - so it's often left to the groundsman's judgement.
Bob felt it was 50-50 on Friday and with the wind was hopeful, but the overnight rain and downpour at 8am left standing water. To clear the problem once and for all, we've been advised to excavate the pitch to a depth of 3 metres, 80 metres wide and 120 metres long - 28,800 cubic metres of clay and then reinstate at a cost of £175,000.
